I apologise if I'm posting this in the wrong place. Mods: Please move it if that's the case.

I'm not seeking to advertise such an arrangement on AFF but rather to get an opinion from the brains trust on AFF: what might be a "fair" equivalent. I have a trip coming up at the end of the month but nothing otherwise in mind with a significant number of KF points to expire after the next and likely final extension. A friend of mine has offered the same number of QF points in exchange for my adding him and his wife as redemption nominees so they can use my KF points instead.

While I don't thinkg beggars can be choosers, I think 1:1 is not a fair reflection of the relative value. What might be a "fairer" reflection of relative value?

Given better redemption rates and lower taxes (plus regular Amex Plat QF transfer bonuses) my ballpark figure would be at least 1.4:1.
(Obviously need to be aware QF points transfer rules are restrictive and breaches could have serious consequences)
 
Why not compare the actual points and taxes needed for the route in question using QFF or KF? Seems better and easier than trying to come up with some general figure.
For absolute fair value (I.e for an equivalent forex swop rather than a friend) I'd build in SQs much better availability too

This could be a fair ratio but there is one HUGE disadvantage to SQ miles, they expire. Wasn’t a big issue before covid but after two years of no travel the 3 years expiry, even after extensions, can be a problem. For example if @albyd is booking flights for his mates for next year with departure date after points would have expired and for some reason they’ll need to cancel it means they lose everything. Sure, date changes are permitted up to 12 months from ticketing date but still it’s very restrictive. These limitations are not for everyone and should to be taken under consideration when making the valuation.
 
Does anyone have experience of the new T3 Krisflyer Gold Lounge and whether it also experience severe overcrowding at peak times? Thanks in advance.
I’m in the KFGL at the moment and it’s pretty empty (7-9pm). It was the same when I flew the other way last month. There’s just a whole lot of us Aussies and New Zealanders connecting to and from Europe.

I know what you mean about the risk with QF clawback.

I also agree a drawback of KF is the 3 year expiry (which is driving me to consider this as I prefer KF). There’s also the recent 10% dilution. I think QF won’t be immune from this especially with so many members let alone being able to redeem for the seat you want as opposed to a toaster.
 
BNE International today took 45 minutes from kerb to lounge, 30 minutes of that was waiting in the SQ J Check-in queue.

Dessert in Asia is mainly traditionally interesting cut fruit but for SE Asia its also ice based desserts which would be difficult to replicate on an aircraft. Even Book the Cook will not be able to replicate something like the Ice Kachang which incidentally is the original Snow cone - Westerners copied it from the Asians. Easy enough i suppose to get a cheap snow cone ice shaver from eBay.

However, it would be easy to include something like Nonya Kueh. Nonya Kueh

Imagine a dessert trolley coming down the aisle with colourful Ice Kachang and Nonya Kueh

Like the iconic Satay, it would not take much to jazz things up with colourful presentations...
 
T3 SilverKris lounge is busy (21:00 local), plenty of stools available, not so many lounges. I haven’t quite worked out this lounge, I think I prefer the old one.

SQ used to do a very impressive Power Chendol but this seems to have been retired. Their desserts used to be a lot more interesting than the current state which seems to favour dry cakes.
 
Returning from LAX on Tuesday so another run thru Narita to Singapore on the 777ER. I will do a tester of the Krug for you because I can. Landing in Singapore around 1 am is my only gripe so it will be Crowne Plaza on points again.
 
Partner through SIN twice recently, she also preferred the older lounge as it seems more "homely" and was of course less busy.

With premiums cabins full, not sure the lounge situation will get better anytime soon
