SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

So...we just jumped on an offer to upgrade our J flights on Sunday to first (it's our belated honeymoon). We have a 4 hours stopover in Singapore before our onward flight to Istanbul back in J. The Singapore airlines website says lounge access is determined by class of travel for your departing flight, so SK lounge but there seems to be anecdotal experience in this thread they will allow you into TPR on arrival. Is this still the case? Also this is our first time in first class, so any tips or things we should be eating/drinking/requesting would be most helpful.

Cheers

Congrats @Cddc, firstly on your wedding & honeymoon, and on the upgrade from F -> R!

If I may ask, what was the offer presented?

Having flown in SQ Suites for our honeymoon (albeit the "Old" Suites, shame it doesn't fly anymore), I can tell you that SQ Suites is the pinnacle of honeymoon travelling. Yes, you will get arrival access to TPR upon arrival in SIN.

If you can handle the wait times (not sure if they're that long anymore), then call up SQ and place a request for a honeymoon cake - the crew will go above and beyond to make that flight a memorable one (and you can leave feedback in support after the fact).

Also, Ditto to @Quickstatus above:
Make sure SQ knows it your honeymoon🎖(drop hints at the lounge)

Enjoy!

We are a 777 so it is J>F, but I'm sure it will be just as nice! Was $1100ea and considering there are only 4 seats in F we jumped on it real quick.

All our other flights are on A350 so no F at all.

Thanks for the tips on the honeymoon cake.

That's a steal for J->F. Was it an award or cash booking?
I'm guessing the F cabin was empty hence the upgrade offer being presented.
Enjoy
I booked flights in J for two of us yesterday MEL SIN FCO CPH SIN MEL leaving in 6 weeks
No change out of 14k each - all 350’s and last available seats on all flights. But - first time in 3 years and do not travel with any other airline. Im hoping if just one plane changes as happens with SQ - i might also attempt upgrade bid. 🤞🏻
Congratulations to all the honeymooners

Wud be interesting to know SQ's A350 vs 777, fuel consumption/price, fare/pax mix matrix. Y'know - the point at which its a better return for the airline on the thirstier aircraft, and which offers F..

Prices are just savage at present. It took us a month back in June to sort out with a T/A a Europe return itin in mixed J and F for Sept. When we looked ourselves the SQ website wudnt accomodate mixed class and flts wud be there one minute and gone the next time we looked.. Schedules on return flts were the worst - we hv to get home to HBA and just cudnt stand the idea of a night in Syd or Mel if we arrive too late for the last connecting Dom flt. Hv flown SQ for yrs and never remember SQ scheds being so disjointed, with 6 and 7 hr conxs. Finally went for an 18h layover in SIN on the way back. Time enough for Crown Plaza pool, sleep, terminal walking followed by some mid eve TPR indulgence prior boarding..

Its been so long that we were determined to go but shocked at the limited seats availability.
Having cancelled 5 trips last two years - I will believe it when I am strapped in for predeparture drinks. We travel hand luggage only so at least avoid that bedlam

Two bottles of Piper out today in the SKL SIN, on the far left bar as you walk in. There wasn't anything there last week so may be a time of day thing as I was a morning flight.

Nothing on the right bar (only spirits, a white, a red and beer) and manned bar not yet open.

Spent the afternoon looking for and booking F. Now I have two bookings almost exactly the same. I paid for the first one chose the seats etc and then SQ said something had gone wrong and they would contact me and the bank will refund the money.
Waited an hour or so to see what would happen then decided to rebook at all just in case I lost the dates. Now I have two bookings and have paid twice so I will be interested to see what they do.
Once they release the first booking I can grab that seat that I first wanted but can’t get because I’ve got it booked on the first booking. 😊

Has anyone had the experience of a SQ booking for two people, both with VA numbers linked to the booking, and VA points only posted for one person but not the other?

Why would anyone have PH red in the lounge when there is PH 2012/14 or even CH onboard in J?! Hard pass.

Probably because the coughtails at the manned bar were awful (this is based on our 2 ordered), the available mixers for spirits are pretty uninspiring and Tiger or Heineken are not great either.

That they are not mutually exclusive helps as well.

I know 2019 was a long time ago for airlines but it does feel like there has been a big step backwards in their J lounge offerings in PER and SIN.

On board is still great though and PER to South East Asia is still great value on miles. So I will keep coming back.

I am waitlisted on a few flights from Europe to PER in just over a months time, so this morning I decided to ring SQ to see if they could put a chaser on one or two of them.

Phoned their 13 number, as I had a few weeks ago, and it had a recorded message that their number had changed. After listening to the message, I had to ring back because I could not make out the entire the number (02 72094388 if anyone is interested).

So, after ringing them amongst the first things they say is that “we cannot expediate any waitlisted flights”. I ignored that and continued. Got through rather quickly but I had issues in making myself understood by the call centre agent and had to listen very carefully to interpret what she was trying to say. Anyone know where the call centre is?

In short, I asked for a chaser to be put on a flight and she said, “do you want this flight cancelled?” (NO). I re-explained and she then said she could not send the itinerary to someone else did I want her to email it to me? After the third time she understood and gave me the usual line “you will have to wait to see if it comes through”

So I HUCA and got a different agent. This one understood straight away and, same answer. “you will need to wait it out sir, there is nothing we can do“.

A bit frustrating but could do nothing else.

Anyone have any joy in chasing up a waitlist?
