SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Agree with the above and during covid SQ retired 3 77W's as well

We will see what changes with the NH summer updated that commences 26th March 2023 which should be announced very soon

I believe that the final remaining newly refitted A380 is going to be used to Hong Kong from 1 December, which at least frees up 1 more 77W to be used somewhere

Sadly I think MEL will see 2 77W's and 2 A350 regionals for a very long time to come

When the 777X's start to enter the fleet perhaps in 2025 I doubt MEL will see one

It's such a shame SQ has the regional A350 :(
I think they were probably planning on an additional A380 destination as they have completed refitting 6 of the 7x A380s they were planning to do but those darned wing spar checks and repairs have probably thrown a spanner in the works.

The B77W freed up by the A380 HKG rotation in December appears to be swapped directly onto the DEL rotation, which loses its A380 at the time.

It does make me nervous booking in the PE cabin, seems to be a risk that the plane gets swapped to regional config and we end up in Y

Have already seen a downgrade from 777 to A350 on SQ217/SQ208 mid-2023 bookings.

Correct, it was meant to be 3 x 777 daily but now back to 2 :(

Is there an announcement on dates of these aircraft swaps? I'm booked on SQ208 well into the second half of next year which is still showing in F (777).

Just ticketed new booking that include 208 outbound and 207 inbound for Sep / Oct next year. These were the only options in F Saver which is probably not good sign but I’ve experienced enough SQ downgrades lately to know the formula, as long as there are seats on another service they must and they will rebook.

Flight landing 9pm connecting to a flight 9am the following morning - will I be able to check bags all the way so I don't have to deal with them in Singapore?

On a slightly different note - if you do have a through ticket with an overnight stopover in Singapore and you need your checked luggage in Singapore then I would suggest not checking in online. I checked in online for a recent SYD SIN DXB flight and we had a 20+ hour stopover in SIN and wanted our checked baggage in SIN - it took about 20 mins for SYD staff to override the online checkin just for the luggage to be tagged to SIN.

On our more recent SYD SIN PAR through ticket with an 18hr stopover in SIN I didn’t check in online and we were all checked in with luggage tagged to SIN in about 5 mins.

We have 2 x SQ F MEL-SIN / LH F SIN-FRA late May 2023 - anybody have a contact number for LH to call to secure seat selection? TIA 👍

IIRC , LH use Amadeus (as does SQ), so the PNR should be the same.

Have you tried the Lufthansa website Manage your booking?

Is anyone needing to stay at YOTELAIR Singapore Changi Airport Landside (SG Clean) before December 31, 2022?
I have a hotels.com coupon worth $54 that is expiring.
Happy to give it away as I will have no use for it.
Hi
is this still available?
Wife going in 3 weeks

Been looking at Sq J Syd-Sin-Ist awards and vice versa for next October. Very very few seats available and when available it seems to be at the Adv rate of 167K cf to 99K for Saver awards. Out of curiosity also checked Y awards....similar story. What gives? Is this the new normal?

Think its the norm until
paid supply>demand=Empty seats ☹️🥲
Given limited capacity and need to pay ++++ to travel at all on SQ - I would say this will be the case for years (sadly).
Our trip last month in J to Europe 14k return
Next May got fares for 10k (better but still much more than BC {Before Covid}.)
I would love to be proven wrong but realistically do not see them offering much in reward seats when demand for paid travel so high
Edited to add:
They may also be a demand side ‘NQR’ (notQANTASrefugee) effect

IST is a tough one. Super popular destination on the SQ network for obvious reasons yet only one daily service.

From late October 2023 onwards, I'm not seeing any saver or advantage awards from Syd to Lhr / Muc / Cdg / Fra / Mxp / Ist and vice versa at all ....unless I'm missing something!

Are you sure you are not looking beyond the end of the booking calendar?

There's J saver for 6 adults SYD-LHR in late October:

No. It is from about 28 / 29 October onwards where there seems to be no J award flights for any of the routes I mentioned above.
Are you sure there should be seats available? There are no revenue fares available for sale from 29 October.

You are right that there are no revenue seats for sale!.Strange....I booked an award Syd-Sin- Ist for Oct 27 10 days ago and have been looking for a return from Europe (any port) in early Nov and am finding nothing....not sure why the fares / awards are not loaded as yet.
