SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Is this definitely confirmed? I have J Saver waitlisted for mid next year from SYD.
According to this, yes:

South West Pacific

The A380 will return to Melbourne after almost four years on 16 May 2023, while Sydney will receive a second daily A380 from 17 May 2023. The A380 will replace the 777-300ER on SQ237 from Singapore to Melbourne, and the return service SQ228. SIA will also operate the A380 on SQ221 from Singapore to Sydney and the return flight SQ232, instead of the A350-900 medium-haul.

When logging in, I've got a 777 booking that hasn't been changed over to A380 yet.

My flight next June on SQ228 is still showing as the 777.

And my flt May 16 still showing 773 - not that I care except we are currently seated in 1A and 1F with 1C and 1D occupied before we secured our booking - long story involving an equip swap / downgrade

Also have a booking on SQ228 17 May and still also still showing B773.
Will keep an eye on it to see if we can improve our seats (PE).

Edit - showing A380 in the summary view of future bookings, but not when clicking through to Manage booking
Edit #2 - in the time I was writing the above, it changed to A380, and we were moved automatically from 2 seats in the middle (only one available on the 777) to a pair on the window, which is exactly what I would have chosen.

Now the NH summer schedule has been tweaked, MEL has the following flights.

SQ228 A380
SQ238 A350 Regional :(
SQ208 B777 :)
SQ218 A350 Long-Haul as premium economy is sold on this one - Starting early April

At least we are down to 1 regional A350

Let's see what the NH Winter schedule brings, hopefully B777's on all flights and/or 1 A380

Still a vast improvement on the days when 217/8 was operated by an A330. Or going back even earlier (2006-8) when I used to fly regularly in J between the two ports (and beyond), 237/8 was served by a 777-300 (nonER) with cradle seats in business class in a 2-3-2 config

Yes much better :) - I experienced the old 777-300 NON - ER several times

Used to track it incoming and then be greeted with the apology sign at MEL airport :(

This morning I was able to pick up 2 x J to Europe in late August that were previously unavailable. Starting with SQ228, the perfectly-timed dinner flight . Sadly only 1 x R available and I'm pretty sure my partner would sulk for the remainder of the trip if I left him cooling his heels in business.

Very nice of SQ to release more seats for awards and not just $ seats

Hmmm I now have this for my August MEL-SIN-FRA flights

I'm assuming that's as I'm losing my old Suites booking SIN-FRA

:(

It letting me change for free to an earlier day

I think I'll leave it for now and see...

They are running 3 flights a day BNE-SIN with A350-900 aircraft and I can't see then changing aircraft type anytime soon.

The only premium cabin is J
