SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Just wanted to write a quick note on this thread to thank all active members, but probably especially, Cruiser Elite, for all the ideas and tips I have gleaned while watching this part of the AFF Forum. There have been so many good posts that I am grateful that I have been able to use some of them for our upcoming trip to Europe next week.

I have never run my own business and too old for credit card churning so all the points have come from flying. Therefore happy to be able to make one last trip to Europe (and back) on points for the 2 of us which we can achieve due to knowing the best time to make the (Saver) award bookings, knowing that you can Waitlist several flights without needing the points until the WL cleared; being able to book before the enhancement last year and knowing the best flights to target for the R/F experience (especially R, of course), including making good use of the best lounges.

This will be our first longhaul First for 12 years so certainly worth waiting for. The information on AFF, and especially on this thread is priceless. Thanks again all.

Had a great short meeting with SQ MEL Station Mgmt today re feedback I have forwarded over last month or so - changes will be coming - visitors to F Lounge who have been following this thread and other threads re SQ F pax seeking alternative lounges please post back with changes you notice.

Personally I am not back there until June 19 but there will be some action pre then

Nice to see the dessert menu back too. TBH, I know people like SYD, but I think that's just the daylight, until recently, always thought MEL had the better menu, and certainly a better of selection of desserts (Churros were good). I mean when I was last in SYD, they had a few cakes and no ice cream. At one point MEL SQ F even had QF F style pav-in-the-glass as an option. 🤣

It’s always a team effort mel-world - always a team effort - I know I speak for others it is just a pleasure to share experiences so others may benefit 👍

So I booked this flt 9 mths ago - I had no idea that May 16 was return date to service of 380 on MEL-SIN route for 1st since pre-Covid days.

Lucking out? Absolutely- but I would have been just as happy on 777 as the probs with new R on 380 still get up my nose - but that’s a whole ‘nuther story 😁

Loading today on 28 380:
R - 6/6
J - 74/78
S - 44/44
Y - 264/343

Have read those sentiments previously - can you elaborate? I'll expand in my current TR but I loved the A380 R and didn't much appreciate the F on the B777 (but coming from a much lower base of experience ... :) )

I'm flying SIN-MEL later in the year on an advantage level J reward and have just seen a saver J for a flight the following day. I'd like to swap my flights but don't have enough points without first cancelling the advantage seat and i can't risk loosing the seat I have while I wait for the points to be refunded. Can I call the customer service number and have them cancel one and book the other? (This is the first time I've ever redeemed Kris Flyer miles so I'm not at all familiar with their practices.)
