SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I hv never seen a duck, a bear, a chook or anything given out in F or J.. Not that I have a desperate need of one (probly up there with that extra few pairs of pj's that wont get worn), but it does make me wonder if we have to be even more personable with cabin crew or are these little things an on-request item?

I have had several bears over the years, but they are given out when I fly with the 2 young kids in J.

Had to ask for 2 x Female bears earlier as we were given 2 x Male bears. Was initially told they had run out, so went and saw the lady in red and was promptly given them with an apology.

First time on SQ doing SYD - SIN - JFK in J next week. I’ve spent a decent amount of time scrolling through this and other threads to get as many tips and recommendations as possible - but thought I may as well ask for any last minute tips. Reccomendations on lounges, BTC (non-seafood options, sad I know) etc is all much appreciated :)

Looking forward to a beverage or 7! Gotta pass an 18 hour flight somehow

Sit back, relax and enjoy every minute…
They are an outstanding airline who cannot do enough for J customers. Changi is such a great airport its worth a walk around if you have time.
Have a great trip

yes, Changi is worth a look-see, and to keep you away from the bar for a bit..

did a circumnav of Changi terminals 2 weeks ago. Hardly comprehensive, but from the SQ J/F lounge complex in T3, turn L on exit, stay on upper level, don’t go down the escalator, and you’ll walk past the SQ gold and other lounges and you’ll find your way to the butterfly enclosure (2 floors) thereafter down to the main level. There are a bunch of food and drink outlets upstairs (and down,) but you will hv had plenty on the first flt, in the lounge and there’s more to come on the next flt, so enjoy the exercise..

find your way to the skytrain to T2, stay on the R side of the train to observe the fluid power of the Jewel’s waterworks. You can’t get off, you’re airside..

Continue on, and get off at T2, look over the orchid displays and thereafter find the escalator along and to the R, up to the SQ lounge. Show yr BP, gain entry, refresh as required because you’ll have a long-ish walk hereafter. First to the skytrain from T2 across to T3 (you can see the seperate SQ F landslide check-in terminal, first part of the massive T3 building:, with Crowne Plaza and Jewel further back) - and then a bit of a schlepp from the air train to the escalator back up to the SK lounge to complete the circuit. Nicest if you are returning to TPR, nobody will question your entry because they Know, But that’s for another trip...

Get yrself well-stretched, limber and hydrated prior, switch yrself to NY time (eat and sleep accordingly) and perhaps report back on yr experiences of 18 hrs?

I quite enjoyed the BTC lamb rack I had a week or so ago

Remember you can book your menu choice too. Not talking BTC (variable results, depending who responds) but the menu for your flts that SQ makes avail a few days before. Can be useful to select something in adv, to ensure you get it..

Appreciate the feedback and suggestions! Have a 12 hour layover so will certainly have some time to kill at the airport. I’m gonna try my best to adjust to NY time prior to arriving but landing just after midnight into Singapore is going to make that a challenge. I think my best bet is to stay awake as much as possible in Singapore and then sleep as soon as I’ve eaten on the JFK flight.

Thanks again for the advice :D

Apologies if discussed previously: I couldn't see it has been in the last four pages. Not minded to wade through 550 more.

How reasonable is availability in J saver for SYD or MEL to SIN and then on to BKK/KUL or MNL in months like January/February/March/April (excluding Easter) and September/October 2024, returning in each case roughly a month later?

For these months is it "necessary" to book 353 days in advance to secure one or two seats on each flight, or can one book say a few months out and have a reasonable chance of snagging J saver seats?

We are getting SIN - BKK and reverse J savers within 1 0r 2 months out regularly. And needed to change a flight last December and there were at least 2 flights to BKK with 2 J savers.

I did this flight a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it. I was connecting to FRA so I didn't bother trying to acclimatise to any particular timezone. I ate when I was hungry and slept when I was tired. The crew were up for a chat in the galley too which helped pass the time.

Any experience recently on putting award on hold. Want to book JFK to BNE Advantage award to utilise stopover in Singapore for a week. Want to book when the booking period opens for JFK SIN leg but obviously a SIN BNE leg will not open up for the next 7 days. Thanks

I’ve tried to put Saver on hold few days ago but was told the policy changed and KF don’t hold award seats anymore. I pushed ahead to create an itinerary and hung up just before the payment. Previously the seats would have been kept once PNR created but this time they were returned back to inventory strait away.

Just redeemed MEL-SIN-BWN in J. 68,500 miles for two international J flights on lie flat seats seems like a steal. And it has a 17 hour stop in Singapore too, which is a bonus. The only slight cloud is that all my previous SQ flights (12 of them IIRC) have been in F or R. Not sure how I will go with the step down.
