No A380 please...those business seats are terrible!

Agree, the 777 is my favourite for both F and J !

When flying solo I also prefer 777 but with my wife I’d definitely go for 380 both in F and J for the double bed. While the middle bulkhead seats in J can’t be pre-booked anymore without KF status we were lucky before to score them prior to departure and they are great IMO.

My opinion of them is based on a journey in the double bed seats 96DF. Double bed or no double bed...it still feels like sitting or lying on a slab of concrete.

Probably better than a seat in Y. FWP.
Kind of goes without saying. Everything discussed here is a FWP.

Thanks for that. No issues having the miles available. With regards to cancelling the backup booking, wouldn’t that also cancel the BNE-SIN sector as well since it would be on the same itinerary? Would not want this to happen. Apologies if I wasn’t clear that it will be an advantage award all on the one booking.
Oh I see. That complicates things. Yes you will have to call if you want to keep part of the itinerary and add in a cleared waitlisted sector.
May be possible or you may get the “new sector cannot be combined with an existing booking” issue.
Good luck.

Politely asking ….. if anyone can help make a pair for him as they ran out on today’s flight. Lots kids onboard todays flight.

SQ318 - 27 Dec. This for dinner service. Not a fan of this version of the lobster. Was a bit overcooked. The sample bowl laksa was good. The coconut panna cotta was jiggly enough.

I’m no regular but on the flights I have been on I’ve just asked and have been lucky enough to get one each time. Didn’t matter if it was J or F.
Damn! Didn’t know they give to J pax too. Do they carry the bears on A350 where there is no F?

Interesting experience this week regarding the flexibility of Krisflyer Advantage Awards that I thought is worthwhile sharing.

I had planned travel from HKG - SIN - SYD and booked it as a First Advantage Award.

Due to change in plans, I no longer intended to use the HKG - SIN sector but wanted to keep the SIN - SYD in First sector. Thinking an Advantage award, no biggie - just call, pay the fee and be done with it. But no, I could not cancel the first leg only. The whole ticket would be cancelled. I called 3 more times trying HUACA method and got the same response.

However, crazily while I couldn’t cancel the first leg only, I could completly change the booking and keep the second sector. So that’s what I did, changed to fly from PEN-SIN instead and was able to keep my SIN-SYD sector in First.

This is Jan holiday period, so losing the First sector back home would have meant buying a last minute fare and definitely not in First class so i wanted to save it at all costs.

Despite the best of intentions, with a swag of Krisflyer points expiring as of 31.12.23 - last night at 9.40pm the redemption dance began. Ideal outcome would have been SYD CDG J return in mid Oct to early Nov.

Relying on memory is not as reliable as historically unfortunately. We needed more points than we had expiring for 2 x J returns. Found several date pairs that had both the lower cost award tickets available. So just needed a few more points to be transferred across.

Logged onto VFF at about 9.55pm and transferred the minimum number of VFF points required (to the nearest thousand) and the obligatory confirmation message appeared after a 50 second seeming processing freeze (nothing being downloaded from internet/buffering). Blood pressure rose accordingly and then the confirmation message appeared - '... take between 24 to 48 hours to appear'.

The optimist in me thought lovingly of all the posts up thread about transfer happening within minutes, and ignorred the pessimist pointing out that there may well be a few thousand (or more) other people trying to do redemptions before 31.12.23 disappeared.

By 10.25 the points had arrived, and so seemingly had many more people trying to process point saving redemptions. 4 or 5 times the redemption process failed and came up with a 'site maintenance' message and 'contact your local office during business hours'. The SIA system was much slower than the pre-10pm experience.

Just after 11pm success, but with a bitter twist. A message appeared at the top of the screen reminding us that we could have one free stopover. Of course the boss said we should on the way across.

Next attempt, failure.

Next attempt, using a previous search link instead of inputting the data again & it worked. Added the stopover, got a better flight into CDG as a result and everything processed perfectly.

11.25pm email confirmation arrived.

All of a sudden 2024 is looking much better than it had been...
