SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Can anyone offer some advice for my situation?
I am getting into singapore at 00:20 midnight and have a flight at 08:20 to TPE. Should I book a hotel or is there somewhere in the lounge to sleep? not ideal..

Depends on your class of travel, the F lounge will be open and has nap rooms. Otherwise you can slum it on a sofa in the J lounge or book 6 hours in proper airside hotel like Ambassador or Aerotel. Personally I would go to the latter, at least this is what I’m doing during medium layovers in Changi.

100% get a hotel. Airside or landside, your brain will thank me later.
Airports are terrible for 7 hour layovers no matter what lounge you have.
And in the middle of the night no one wants to be in a lounge instead of a bed.

Midnight isn't that late. Go the crowne plaza changi if the airside options are an issue for some reason

Both of us were offered 3 or 4 hour stays in the SQ first class lounge bedrooms as we flew into Singapore from Los Angeles at just after 1 am.

Just stayed at ambassador transit hotel a couple of weeks ago for 6hrs. Was great. Just don't expect windows in your room.

After a excellent nap and shower I headed into town for some meetings

Im staying at the Aerotel @Changi tomorrow for 6 hrs of an 8 hour layover: 172 sgd for solo room, double and family rooms cost a bit more. Access to pool and a meal included.

yeah they are good too.
solo rooms have a shared bathroom, if you care about that.
i ended up going to the lounge for a shower after staying in the solo room.

double & family rooms have dedicated ensuite

When the main purpose is maximise sleep for few hours I actually prefer the room as dark as possible, no windows is better. Ambassadors is my favourite airside hotel, comfortable beds and convenient location when flying SQ.

Aerotel is often the cheaper option but very good nonetheless. The pool is an added bonus, nice to spend some time there during daytime layovers.

Another vote for Aerotel. The first room they gave me was unbearably cold, so they moved me to a much better room.

SQ Business in T3 has a quiet/sleeping area at the Southern end of the Lounge.with semi private booths. The beds are and elongated Z shape with eye masks, blankets and pillows provided.

Last month I arrived at 10pm with my next day Business boarding pass and used a bed for 6 hours (using extra pillows to fill the Z divot). At 5am a shower was lovely followed by breakfast.

I’m familiar with the SQ J lounge and it is not as comfortable as you make it sound IMO. I prefer an airside hotel for proper sleep during overnight layovers but YMMV.

Bear in mind there are only 14 of the ‘snooze booths’ deep end T3 SKL J past food area - you might be lucky and snare 1 anytime of day or night but no guarantees whereas booking ST hotel guarantees a bed 👍

I have never failed to snaffle one, and generally in one of the far corners.

So do I and have stayed half a dozen times at the Aerotel pre COVID.

Aircon quite noisy but I'd manage a couple of hours sleep out of the six.

Post COVID, I have not bothered as I have not been able to justify the now generally doubled cost.

With Aerotel the key is to book ahead and take advantage of the 10% off member offer. Last year I normally paid ~$SGD135 which is fair for a good night sleep IMO.

Admittingly I had not looked for 12 months, but over $250 was the norm in 2022. In recent times, the KUL version at AUD55 has been a place I have used.

As indicated I find this preferable to even AUD150, and to be honest, I sleep just as well:
They now also have a separate "sleeping" room. ...

In the general area of the Silverkris Business Lounge the old Silverkris Lounge was probably better than the renovated and relocated one for sleeping/napping as there was a pretty quiet area down what used the be the far end of the lounge.

The picture show it clearly, these are comfortable reclining chairs for couple of hours rest but not designed for proper good night sleep. A bit like old J recliner seats vs fully flat J beds with doors if you like :) Hard to compare SIN with KUL, hotels rates are very different. I do remember pre covid Aerotel SIN used to be cheaper because one could choose room only without meals but these were different times.
