Setting the standard for us CE. We have a go next week and then a pause until May.
I'm on my way home PEK-SIN-MEL - may be heading back to PVG again 2 wks - May 5 I shift over to the dark side - CX J MEL-HKG-PVG via AA - cheap but so is the product. Then get this QF home - again booked via AA - am so looking forward to that experience - my first time ever in QF J inter.

Not to the extent where I would accept a 'cheap product' or anything that I wasn't happy with.
Jeez MEL you are amazing - if I said it was black you would say it is white - I already posted May 5 I am flying CX to PVG - you are consistently on here in this thread crowing about how much the CX product is better than SQ because you get 10hrs sleep - now you say you would never accept a 'cheap product' - simply amazing.

So how is CX MEL - tolerable or just a 'cheap product' to be avoided? And then returning on QF J - 'cheap product'? Jeez the masses of QF lovers on AFF are going to love you referring to their beloved QF as a 'cheap product'.
 
Now to the SQ story: Due to a number of circumstances when I was packing to check out of RBCH in PEK yesterday I had an overflowing roller bag - so I opened the 'fold flat / expandable' emergency bag I always carry and loaded it with my usual BYO jarmies, carry forward scuffs, toiletries for o/n stay in SIN, change of clothes for today's flt, teddy bear and amenity kit from MEL-PEK flt etc etc - and then when I departed hotel I left the damn bag sitting on bed in room.

PEK traffic was so bad even 5 mins from hotel I was doubtful I would make flt - slow slow trip to PEK but did indeed make it on time. Just as I was about to board I realised what I had done - I was so frustrated and so disappointed by my stupidity - really destroyed my mood. Was greeted in normal manner by SQ crew in R but they could clearly see I was not jumping out of my skin.

Damage done nothing I can do about it so just try to forget it and make the most of upcoming flt. Jasmine the Crew member I posted pouring me a Krug comes to have a chat and I explain my dilemma - she fully understand the frustratuion and goes on to recount a few of her similar experiences over 20yrs of flying.

Jasmine wanders off and next thing I have Harold the IFS at my side asking details of exactly what has happened with my bag which I briefly explain - 'No worries Mr Elite, Singapore Airlines will retrieve your bag and forward it to Australia for you'

OMG - really? 'Yes Sir no problem - we are Singapore Airlines after all'. So then I furnished Harold with hotel name, phone number, my room number, and an authorisation to hotel to release my bag to SQ. I sent off SMS to hotel Asst Gen Manager and advised him to release bag to SQ - he replied by SMS in affirmative shortly after.

I am in TPR right now and desk staff have details that SQ have indeed fetched the bag from hotel and they will email me of next steps on transferring it to me in MEL - just amazing - no cost to me just servicing a valued customer I have been told over and over.

SQ - a great way to fly!
