Are there restrictions on how early you can enter the Singapore SKL J before a flight? I'm hoping to get in somewhere around the T-5hrs mark. Couldn't see any restrictions when looking at their T&Cs but thought I'd double check with the brains trust.
Earlier this year I spent from 10pm to after 4pm using the T3 Business lounge. I arrived on SQ228 about 9:30pm. I did use one of the sleeping room lounges at the South end for about 6 hours.

About 4:30am I had a shower before finding a work booth and joining a 8:30am (Melbourne time) online meeting. Had breakfast and worked from there much of the day 'til heading to the gate for boarding after 4pm for my Business class flight to BKK.

I did leave the lounge a couple of time for a walk - no issues on re-entry, not on initial entry.

These were separate bookings.

If you fly in, you can go in as early as you like as long as you have a boarding pass for your next flight.

I have arrived up to 23 hours before the flight, going in either direction, and it has never been a problem.

You can also go in and out as often as you like.

Also often with a long transit we will go into the lounge for a drink/snack, then head to our hotel (landside or airside, these days we favour landside hotels), sleep, then return to the lounge for breakfast before the flight out.

All good if transiting, you can go the the lounge on arrival, exit the airport and come back later to visit the lounge again before catching your next flight.

The one thing you can’t do is to go airside specifically to visit the lounge (with BP for flight later in the day, say) and then return landside again before taking your flight. It is illegal to enter airside without the intention of taking a flight (of course if flight is cancelled or even delayed significantly I’m sure it’s ok.)

please tell me if this is not the correct forum, but i have just done an award search on SQ - BCN to MEL and there is not a single saver award flight showing - no waitlist - nothing through 23 July - is my browser off or is there something happening at SQ - the real interest is do I dump 1000000 points from amex to SQ before the devaluation or is the risk of another SQ devaluation possible/comming/whoknows
Yeah I get all the expiry dates etc (KF Gold) we do 3 x MEL - Europe a year on SQ (J) with points
SO - whats going on, No BCN - SYD either - I currently hold 2 x BCN - MEL at 130500 each for Feb 24. so they did exist.
Anyone?

check BCN-SIN and SIN-SYD/MEL separately

had a quick look at BCN - SIN , I guess everyone is leaving Spain ! There are SIN - MEL but you wouldn't book separate award tix, thx for the reply but

somethings not right BCN - SIN on 8 July ( for example ) only 4 seats taken and yet no saver fares?

SQ do have awards for higher tier status members that are not made available to members with no or low status. I can see BCN-MEL saver availability on 11, 21 and 22 July, for example (albeit with 14 hr connection in SIN). I am a PPS member who also has supplementary Solitaire status via my partner, and I think I do see awards available to Solitaire members.

Service changes for SQ operations to Australia are being rolled out:
  • SIN-MEL: the 5th daily service is maintained after 31st March 2024
  • SIN-PER: the seasonal 4th daily service is maintained after 14th January 2024
  • SIN-DRW: frequency increases to 1 daily from 31st March 2024, 737-8 operating
  • SIN-CNS: A350 operating instead of the 737-8

The 5th daily flight out of MEL is very much needed and I'm glad it will continue after the NH Winter.

As long as it's all long-haul A350's or 777's I'm happy

Has the number of flights been increased to due ot popularity or some other reason

Is it possible to check in luggage in MEL earlier on the day of departure?

I’m flying from BNE on the day and connecting to SQ208 but would like to send my luggage during SQ228 check in time, go to city run some errands and return to airport later.

Are you flying by any chance on VA for the domestic sector?
I don't know if VA still through-check luggage and issue boarding passes on two separate PNRs but I had success with VA/EY on separate PNRs multiple times.

Didn’t book the domestic flight yet so I can fly VA if they agree to check in all the way through but I’m pretty sure they won’t.

Yes - it would be up to the agent at check-in.
Best if it happens - understandable if they won't.

Asking for something exceptional to happen to your luggage is asking for trouble IMO. I would be inclined to use left luggage - it is not cheap but it means you have less chance of your bag going astray.

boomy I doubt it but I will ask - pm your dates and flt details. I have been specifically told check in for baggage only permitted during 3 hour pre dep window.

This was asked about SYD some time back - pre Covid SYD did have all day check in - well almost - started when check in for first daily flt opened until check in for last daily flt closed - but post Covid this has gone and again can only check in during the 3 hr pre flt window - I specifically asked MEL station to call SYD and clarify this which they did.
