Anyone had trouble buying a SIA flight? I get all the way to payment and one time pin from St George and the one time pin from St George never arrives. St George said it is a SIA problem

Good to see @serfty has made it to TPR.
Our next go is less than 2 weeks away.
i finally managed to get Mrscove a seat allocated so that worry is gone.

Same thing happened to me last year. I gave up as it was about 12.30 and went to bed. Next morning opened my email and found an email from SQ asking "Do you still want to buy you flight...." So I clicked on the link and went ahead. I then received all the pins later on via sms.

Pretty sure the OTP not arriving is not related to the carrier/website at all.
That’s nonsense from St George. It’s from the card company/verifier which is Visa or whoever they contract it to. 3dsecure etc

Recently flew SQ355 MXP - SIN in J. Here are my experiences - catering/my choices were overall not great unfortunately.
Champagne not served whilst on the ground.
Chicken satay was delicious, but the crab ravioli main course (pre-selected) lacked any flavour and was not appetising whatsoever. Partner had the fillet of veal which was much better. Garlic bread delicious. Desserts (had the gelato al limoncello and cheese selection) were good.
At 6 hours prior to landing I requested an egg noodle soup ''delectable'' but was told that breakfast was going to be served in one hour so did I really want it. Ended up just having some chips and popcorn.
Breakfast was served 5 hours prior to landing (was told due to expected turbulence, which didn't eventuate. Being cautious perhaps considering recent events).
The caramelized egg fritata (pre-selected) was disgusting, with the worst sausages I've ever seen onboard. Partner had the crepe suzette which apparently wasn't any better.
Cabin temperature was kept cool and comfortable during flight - no overheating underneath the duvet.
As usual - very swift immigration clearance and baggage collection on arrival, but unfortunately one wheel missing from my suitcase.

If one leg of a SQ itinerary is in First, and the next leg is with Scoot (as SQ don’t fly to that destination), will you still get access to the First Lounge and/or the Private Room.

Yes, SQ First provides for arrivals access to the SIN T3 Private Room.

Keep your First boarding passes to use for entry.

Sorry, no idea if refurbished on track. Hopefully it is.

Yes, united is sometimes a bit further out for SQ as the gates they tend to use is around 43/44. But really less than 10 min walk if fit.

Chose united for the bar 😝. Read somewhere Air Canada does not have champagne for brekkie as I’m on SQ 317 leaving at 11ish. Food options is standard. But it’s a very busy lounge. I read air Canada is supposed to be quieter.
At checkin at LHR T2 recently, we were advised showers were only available at the Plaza Premium lounge. I queried this , as our intended lounge was to be the Air Canada one, which unfortunately we were informed, closes as 500pm. I suspect that SQ were encouraging passengers to use the Plaza Premium lounge (cost ?) ; also the lounge invitation was displayed on the BP. Anyhow, as we had checked in early, we were at the United lounge by about 430pm. Showers were available to use at this time but by 530pm shower access had been closed off. We found the UA lounge to be pleasant and relatively peaceful, it did get busier as the evening progressed , but was not overcrowded. Agree with @LinaLee , bar service was good, but sadly no barista service. Food was OK

As serfty points out, your next onward flight could be on Emirates… but as long as you arrive SQ R or F, you can access TPR.

A brief report on a trip to Europe, full of delays and involuntary overnights, but with some very nice people along the way.

(also titled: Its good to have some status with a service-oriented airline when things go wrong)

If you look up SQ 228 Mel/Sin on 1st May on Flightradar you'll see an SQ 747 cargo plane performed this usually pax route. The intended 777 went technical (a technical term for broken), so we and other J pax were offered a seat on nearby QF flt, but only down the back of the bus... Endured, as we had another flt to catch from Sin. Well done SQ Mel ground staff who made a general announcement of the delay before check-in, gave all Y pax a food voucher (as an encouragement to piss off for a bit..), and then spoke individually to J pax. Most of us J were accepting of the circumstances, but a few were Karen-like. No time for anybody's lounge, QF in a full Y wasnt fun at all, and it was late leaving.

In Spore we only just made our connecting flt 378 to Milan, but there was doubt on boarding if our bags joined us. Nice flt with a good crew - you know it when you see it. Sad to say our bags didnt make it, so we trudged down a long corridor at Milan to the Lost & Found desk, to report Lost luggage and be Found by the SQ station manager who sorted out a Euro cash payment for emergency undies/toothpaste, showed us where the best airport espresso was, and assured us our bags would be with us tomorrow. Nice bloke, and our bags made it next day.

Lufthansa have more problems than most airlines it seems - missed connections being chief among their problems. We were flying on SQ points from Milan via Munich to LHR, but the first flt ran late. Ground staff were matter-of-fact, sorted a flt next day, gave us their emergency pack of T-shirt n toothpaste, and a series of vouchers. 'Lufthansa refugees' we said, 'Lots of you every day' replied the clerk who checked us into her airport hotel. We had a laugh then took the clerk's advice, got the local bus to her nearby town of Erding, had a lovely evening that included local Erdinger beer, and continued our trip next day.

A month later, back in Milan, onboard SQ 355 after a scruffy contract MXP lounge experience. We are a bit late leaving with a tight connection in Sin back to Mel. Our bags get a special '3' tag at checkin - apparently the eye is quicker than the barcode reader when it comes to plucking out terminal transfer bags in Sin.. Oh well, not much to be done but to relax and enjoy a moderately good flt. Had a great sleep on this flt, melatonin seems to have worked, tho the brandy nightcap cant be ignored..

On arrival Sin we are met at the gate: sorry too late for your Mel flt but here's a new set of BP's. You're now flying to Perth and then with VA to Mel. A good arrangement in the circumstances, and good on SQ for thinking out a solution, but they dont know our final destination, on a separate tkt, is down to Hobart..

That causes wheels to move up at the SKL (the first time we have had time or circumstance to get into an actual SQ lounge this trip) and by the time we ask at SQ Perth a hotel room is arranged at Mel airport. And on arrival Mel we are met by Andrea who walks us to bag collection and then to the airport Parkroyal. This was the nicest, most personal part of the SQ service we received - mind you, Andrea did say she looked at our booking, saw we were on the cancelled 228 a month earlier, and thought she better attend personally..

So to those who might think they can put up with almost anything, that paying more and/or having status is for fools, then good luck, carry on and do it yourself. We remain happy (and fortunately able) to pay for service with an airline that gives it.

I have an upcoming Saver booking MEL-SIN on SQ0238 in J, followed by a six-hour layover before a separate onward J award itinerary on EY SIN-xAUH-ZRH. I don't expect the SATS Lounge to be too impressive (even the T3 SKL was really underwhelming a couple of years ago) so I figure I'll store my bags and head into town for a couple of hours, maybe getting a drink at the Raffles Long Bar.

I've crunched the numbers and if they releaseSaver F space on the same flight it'll only be another 25k points. Let's say I value 25k KF at ~$800.

It's daytime so sleep won't be an issue, but I don't find the J seats on SQ very comfortable. I've looked at the menus for the same flight next week, and I think I actually prefer the J options to the F ones.

Would others say that F is worth an $800 premium over J for an eight-hour daylight flight? Do they cater all of the Krug, the Taittinger Comtes and the Bollinger, or only one of, on a given flight? I think I can use TPR on arrival; can it be several hours later after I've gone airside for a while? Or is TPR good enough to just stay there for four or five hours rather than going into town?

Are you able to put in a claim for EU261 compensation on the Lufthansa flight?

Nice summary.

Only one comment, well a request really, in the future can you please post well in advance of any travel you have with SQ, so the rest of us can do our very best to avoid any of those flights? 😂 :p

Yeah, shud hv realised not everybody wants to jump on dud flts..

But that was sort-of the point of the article - havnt had so much dislocation ever before on this sort of itin. Theres lots of it going around and status got us thru. Never been more important imho..

possibly probably but can’t be bothered - we were taken care of, had an unexpected night near Munich and weren’t greatly inconvenienced. Besides, I’ve had enough of filling in forms for a while..

You have plenty of time! I think up to two years to file a claim. Could be worth €250 per person! (overnight accommodation and meals are required by the regulations in any event).
