Is the only way to combine business and first class sectors on the same krisflyer award to ring? Trying to get KUL - SIN - MEL all on one ticket KUL to SIN available in business, SIN-MEL available in first but cannot book redemption. Thanks

Yes. Mixed class redemptions are allowed. You’ll need to call, unless it’s married segments or something else blocking it.

Thanks. Very few agents seem to know about it though. Chat had no idea
It’s written on the krisflyer award chart:

• Singapore Airlines Suites and First Class are only available on selected Singapore Airlines
flights. Business Class seats will be allocated to members who redeem their miles for Singapore Airlines Suites and/or First Class on Singapore Airlines flights which do not have a Singapore Airlines Suites/First Class cabin. The number of miles required for the entire trip may be determined at the redemption level of the highest class of service flown. Check the classes available on your flight before making a redemption

Thanks, Got there in the end, after 2 HUCA, agent knew what they were doing, done in 10 mins

I'm still a bit confused on the best strategy in booking J rewards to Europe 353 days out

SYD to SIN opens up first but at that stage SIN to EUR still hasn't opened for booking which opens up quite a few hours after.

So if you're set on dates then best to book the individual legs but then it's more points. Or risk waiting for the whole trip to open up?
Or can you book the separate legs and then ring to get them to join it and get the points back?

I spoke too quickly. After receiving the e-ticket got a call saying that they want to charge more miles. Trying to sort it now
I am truly at a loss. I made a mixed class redemption booking over the phone HKT to SYD via SIN. Both flights were saver - obviously. HKT to SIN was in J, SIN to SYD in F Booking ticketed no issues, 93,500 points

I get a call back a few hours later saying they want another 24000 miles.

They are refusing to budge. Any ideas on how to resolve?

Ask to escalate to a supervisor, and refer them to the award chart.

The only reason I can think of that they want the extra miles is if it is married segments… HKT-SYD not available, but HKT-SIN and SIN-SYD are, separately.

The connection is essentially ‘free’ anyway, same price as SIN.

The good thing is that because this is all on SQ metal. And because you have already paid and ticketed. Even if they cancel it you can always escalate and get the matter resolved in due course. SQ can simply release revenue seats to cover their mistake.

Quite different to if it was partner award space that once cancelled, would be difficult to get back.

It is the entire route that opens up.
Ignore the separate legs.
Try to move through the booking process quickly, e.g. Select your seats after booking.

Would others say that F is worth an $800 premium over J for an eight-hour daylight flight? Do they cater all of the Krug, the Taittinger Comtes and the Bollinger, or only one of, on a given flight? I think I can use TPR on arrival; can it be several hours later after I've gone airside for a while? Or is TPR good enough to just stay there for four or five hours rather than going into town?
I’ve flown both 777 First and 380 Suites this week. Both flights had plenty of Krug and the new Bollinger, not sure how many bottles they loaded but there was no issue for anyone drinking them and I know they opened at least a second bottle of Krug. I didn’t have the Taittinger on board but I assume that would have been the same.

TPR is a nice lounge, but I wouldn’t stay there for 5 hours. Even if you don’t make it into the city itself I’d prefer to kill a few hours wandering around Jewel. Stop in for lunch, head out for a wander somewhere and then back to the lounge for a drink before your next flight.

And yes, I’d pay $800 to upgrade from J to F for any SQ flight.

Been facing the same conundrum recently, as we're planning a family trip to Europe this time next year, so have been watching the daily award release closely for various city pairs over the last fortnight.

I've been looking ex-MEL rather than SYD but I see the same pattern: all the MEL-SIN saver award space for a given day gets released at 10am, up to a day ahead of most of the connecting SIN-EU space. I would have assumed married segments came in to play but I've seen a consistent pattern where if the AU-SIN leg you want has already gone to waitlist by the time the onward connection opens (presumably because someone booked it), then the AU-SIN-EU flight with that sector in it also goes to waitlist immediately on opening up.

Depending on where exactly you are heading, some destinations do seem to have both legs opening together -- I think it depends on the exact time that the onward leg departs SIN. E.g., I was looking at MEL-SIN-LHR as an option, and there's SQ248 (the 05:55 departure -- ouch!) that seems to open up in the 10am release at the same time as the corresponding connecting flight out of SIN (SQ318). It wouldn't be my first choice, but that one at least seems to be bookable before anyone has had a chance to nab either of the sectors.

I'm not sure there is a good strategy -- apart from a bit of minor flexibility on dates, crossed fingers, and being ready to book bang on 10am?

(It is do-able though--successfully bagged 4x J savers MEL-SIN-MAN this morning despite the twin challenges of only one SIN-MAN flight per day and the MEL-SIN legs having opened up yesterday and been available to book separately for 24 hours).

good to see I'm not the only one!

Yeah for my trip that I booked last July 2023 for now (we are in AMS right now for a 4 day music festival only) so it HAD to be those dates.
I ended up booking each leg separately which was more points :(
they were the last of my covid points so I just did it.

in the future, would hope we could ring them to join the segments and return the extra points as there is no way to do it online

Hi guys,

Wanted a bit of advice..
Can we add check in bags during transit at Changi if our main bag is checked all the way through

Leaving EU and have a 12hr transit at SIN during which we'll go to the city to catch up with friends then come back with some more check in stuff.

Can this be added during transit?

Yes you can - we did exactly that without any issue.
