2. Wagyu needs to be rendered due to the high fat levels. Medium rare would be chewing fat, anyone who knows steak should know that. It needs to be absolutely medium at the least.
Although this begs the question of why then ask for cooked preference? The serving style should be stated on the menu, rather than an unbecoming 'we know better' discussion at the table.
 
That is true. With most steaks, but especially wagyu, I ask when ordering how the chef recommends and tend to go with that (or more cooked, if their chef likes blue...)

I’ve have a few people tell me the Yakiniku is very good, but I still can’t get over how SQ’s J class presentation has completely lost the plot. It was never this bad.
 
The presentation on the lamb I had earlier in the flight was much better but not quite as delicious. Although the photo does make it look worse than what it looked. Really it would be better presented in a bowl rather than on a plate. But don’t let it deter you.
 
One carrier (EK?) does not give its chauffeur service to redemption bookings but apart from that I expect the same service for award bookings as for revenue bookings. I have never asked for second helpings of caviar but I would assume if they load one serving per passenger that they could only do seconds if someone else doesn’t have theirs. That seems reasonable. And running out of food options has never been an issue for me in F with SQ but has been an issue with other carriers. Normally it is based on which seat you’re in - orders often taken from the front. QF, though, is over in taking orders in strict status order. That does grate.

I expect points bookings not to get any of the bells and whistles.

Think about it - if you are paying $20k and the dude next to you is there because he got a signup bonus from a credit card... these are wildly different customer profiles. Points customers are basically there to fill a seat, while the dude paying cash keeps the airline going.

EK definitely treats cash paying F pax differently. There is an added layer for status holding EK pax on cash F tickets - just as it should be!

Yes i did read about the removal.of chauffeur about 1-2 years ago, did feel discriminated aganst but what can you do

Edit: i know this is an unpopular opinion but i feel and feel entitled to, as miles as a form of cash, just like a cashback offer or even flybuys, where i can use it anywhere at anytime. So paying surcharges, or less availability really angers me

Maybe this should be in the lounges forum, but I was disappointed that the recently refurbished SQ Business lounge at LHR was not available on the evening of 1st August. No-one seemed able to tell me what the problem was; flooding, perhaps? So I had to make do with the United Club lounge: crowded, noisy, children running around unchecked, food mediocre. The only non-American food I could see was a "Thai green vegetable curry" - lukewarm, little flavour, and the vegetable seemed to be only potato. Did anyone else have the same experience? I was on SQ 321, which then left an ahour and a half late.

We used the same United lounge mid June and had a different experience than yourself. It was not overly crowded which might have been due to our earlier evening departure on SQ319. Food/drink was ok for us. We don’t tend to eat/drink too much in the lounge, more interested in a peaceful comfortable environment.

I feel like I have already given this reply to you previously, but where airlines do have programs that allow points to be used like cash, they generally offer extremely poor value and are unpopular.
 
02 7209 4388 is the number I found on the SQ website. When they answered they did say that it was the number for commercial bookings but they took the details of the changes I wanted and then transferred me through to another department who made the changes without issue. Only took about 5mins.

MEL forgotten again
To be fair there’s not much you can do with that space. When I flew SQ in F a couple of weeks ago I used Priority Pass to get some grub at Pulpo/Movida and squatted in the Marhaba lounge. I’d have to be pretty desperate to use the SQ lounge.

Each to their own. And not at all desperate.

For an outstation, I like the SQ F space, it's peaceful, secluded and usually very quiet. I'm completely over lounges with hustle and bustle. If I want to visit a pub or bar then I would. If you go in with a mindset that it's OK to have a dark space without windows it's quite OK. I think it's an entirely reasonable and appropriate space for the number of F passengers and Solitaire PPS members that fly out of MEL on a daily basis. Never been there with more than a dozen others, usually it's just 4-5 pax.

Edit: in the current version of the catering. Earlier this year the catering got quite bad, but has definitely improved, perhaps since @Cruiser Elite gave them a shot across their bow.
 
That was quick! All the tradies were measuring up and making plans only 9 days ago when we were there.
