SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Oh, didn't think of that. I'll see if they will offer me a tin of caviar 😂
The crab pasta dish from the lunch menu just had a small sprinkling of caviar on top, if anything the flavour was lost in the spice of the dish itself. Not dissimilar to the lobster egg breakfast dish in the Sydney lounge, which also had caviar on top that didn't really contribute to the overall flavour.

Not complaining mind you, both dishes were still great.

I didn't have the lobster pasta from the dinner menu so can't comment on that one.

There’s a half lobster laksa for breakfast - and if you ask nicely you should be able to get it upgraded to a whole lobster laksa 😉

Totally forgot about that - I last went over 12 months ago and had the same for breakfast.
Definitely prefer the SQ laksa over the QF F one.
Looking at photos at the time showed lobster thermidor on the dinner menu.

Such a shame that they have downgraded the reds here, this is what I have seen in the J lounge. Comtes is obviously a standout

Seriously, what’s wrong with 8-9 y.o reds like the Bordeaux? I wud hv thought both the Kooyong Pinot and Bogan Shiraz (tho I do hate that name..) wud be about at their best. As for the Barbera, 21 was a great vintage with accessible early drinking. What would you hv preferred to see?

In July 2024, they served 2006 Chateau Leoville Poyferre which is what I'd expect from a dedicated F lounge (see menu below)

Emirates serves better drops in the DXB J lounges and if you ask in F lounges you can get the unfinished wines from the F flights

I am sad whenever I don’t get a full colour boarding pass but I can see the writing on the wall. This problem could be easily solved by allowing a single QR code to represent a block of tickets. I think a bigger hurdle would be people’s reluctance to sign up for SIM cards when travelling in order to get their QR codes.
Off topic for SQ so apologies in advance, but re the way boarding passes are heading - in a recent flight in IAH to MEX in Nov ‘24, I had to scan in my passport in the UA app during online check-in and boarding only required face recognition at the gate by a camera fixed to the counter manned by the gate agent. Neither digital boarding pass/QR code nor physical boarding pass was ever used by anybody at the gate (mind you I was in boarding group 2 so no idea whether the technology worked seamlessly for all pax)
