Direct business spend goes on a different CC.
I have been putting a phone company bill on Amex,
Life is a frequent flyer point or sometimes a frequent flyer mile.

Noticed that I was not the first. Applied for this card and received a notification straight away that I did not meet their requirements. Rang up to enquire what the problem was. Told that I met the financial requirements but was knocked back on something else which could have been not being a St George customer??? They would not tell me what the exact reason was after speaking to the lender who approves their credit cards. First and last time I will apply for their card. A couple of days earlier I was approved for the NAB Qantas Rewards Signature Card with no problems and I still have a very good credit rating.

yep, pretty much my story as well.
got the wife to apply as she's been a customer for 20yrs+ and has an IP loan with them.
instant approval and no annual fees while still earning all the rewards :D

Maybe the bank had noticed your total credit limit is too high for their liking. Happened to me before too with other westpac cards.

The wont tell you the reason because they dont know. One of the principles of automatic assessments is to not indicate reasons (except bad stuff in credit files) so that staff dont manipulate results. However when an application is declined, an approver can review it. If its still remained declined after that, its simply a case of nothing in the application that warranted them overriding the auto decision. An obvious factor would be something like, long term profitable custmer with existing loans. For a new customer, that is probably just shopping the points, there isnt any value for the bank in the proposition.

We both work with $20,000 credit limits on our 2 cards. You just have to remember to load in some funds if you have a largish bill to pay. I think I was lucky to have several CCs with much larger limits.

No limits and it pays on everything I have put on it but I am on Kris Miles as they are worth more than double QF points. Flight availability with SQ is brilliant and they lowered the cash component of a redemption.

Yeah have recently discovered Kris programs benefita of low points requirements and low taxes so that's my go to program to store my points

But be aware of the expiry :)

It is actually simple with this credit card as you warehouse them in the Amplify points section so they don't even start to expire. Then there is the 10% birthday bonus.

But this strategy wont work if you churn your cards. You'll have to transfer the points somewhere first before cancelling this card.

I could not see a reason to churn this CC.
The Westpac Kris Flyer Amex stopped working in April and this is the best replacement.
We have three and it will probably grow to five in our family in this financial year.
I am using two today.

That card does not pay on about $zillions of things I put on credit cards so I use World and Dragon along with 2 Amex cards.

I can't see a reason to keep any card. Loyalty is dead :)

My choice of card and not keeping them is always about maximising point earning capabilities.

I have too many trips to book for the family to do that Dr Ralph. I just booked a sons girlfriend to Madrid, my sister in law to the US, a son back to Perth from Madrid for a wedding then back to Spain a couple of days later. They go in either business or first class so that churns up a few Miles.
We do 8 long hauls a year.

Hi Cove,
I have a similar limit on my dragon.
How much over the $20,000 can you load it up (e.g. to pay ATO)?

Can you be my daddy?:p

I haven’t run into a limit. I put $100,000 each into two cards recently and their computer accepts it. Often it takes one extra day for the funds to arrive which can be annoying.
Having two adult sons is enough for us thanks SOPOOR so no need to send adoption papers......
I did create a little problem for myself by putting sons girlfriends in as redemption nominees on SQ so I have continued to do this. It was probably a mistake but Mrscove likes me doing those bookings as long as she gets first class when she flies long haul.
