Credit Card Offers St.George Amplify Qantas Signature: 80,000 bonus Qantas Points (expires 30/4/25)

Never hold a card a second longer than needed

Whilst I mostly agree, there is an argument for having at least one stable card for the year for cases where the card used to book needs to be presented at the airport/hotel; and to move auto payments to whilst waiting for the next card to arrive.

For me due to limited leave (and status) Im ok with churning no more than 2 cards a year, clearing about 200k bonus points on top of the spend points; as cant see myself burning more than 240k points in anyone year anyway; plus dont want too much overhead in moving payments around etc.

Understand other people have more time to spend than I do.

See this thread for lots of information/examples:
This is confident boosting. What I get from the thread is that frequent applications may or may not impact my credit score. Moreover, credit score itself may just be moot and a low score does not essentially stop a bank from giving me a mortgage or any other credit. Banks see my entire credit report before giving me any credit and not just that number.

One week in from application and still no response. Not sure whether to contact them or not. Or wait until next week.
I would call, I applied Sunday the 10th a week prior and called today, told I was approved last Wednesday the 13th.

Texted status on Thursday and got this: "Hi there, approval for your application is progressing and we'll get back to you if we need anything else."

Online banking showed application was still at verify income stage (even though this was done on the 10th).

Thanks for your reply. We will make the phone call.

Love the new ability to close accounts online. No pesky conversations and confirmation in writing received on the spot so makes my record keeping much better hence knowing when I can apply the next time

It is good - except that that when you speak to someone, they may offer you something to get you to stay, like bonu spoints or a fee waiver. Probably less likely if you've only had the card for a few months (so clearly churning for points). But for example my wife closed her AMEX last year. Was offered the equivalent of 10,000 frequent flyer points to keep it open. So she did...for another month, then closed it once the points were safely banked :p

Just went to the branch to pick up this card, all activated etc. Only now i went to program the phone number into mobile in case I lose it, only to find that the coughpy light grey printing and punching of my name have made the number unreadable - and its not listed on the paperwork.

I can see the international number is +61 29155 7802, can someone whose card is maybe more readable tell me what the ? are in the 1300 8?? ??4, please?

OMG just noticed that too. What a fail. I think it's 1300 851 324.
Actually just googled that number - it's right.

Thanks, appreciate it. i have pretty decent eyesight and just couldn't read it - agree epic fail, should use a font colour with better contrast and print above the mag strip.

Second fail is ive now tried 4 different pens and none will write on the signature strip - need to go find a permanent felt marker aka sharpie.

That’s strange. The phone number on my my signature card is 1300 851 348.

And is easily readable.

nn324 here; grey on black not too bad to read. Now the ANZ Black is just about black on black - impossible to read under any light.

I did receive my two complimentary Qantas lounge invites :) Now, time to close my card.

In the meantime, I applied for Mrs and she got the card yesterday. She got a green card instead of black. Customer care confirmed thats its only because they ran out of black cards and her card is still definitely an Amplify Signature. 80k more points waiting to come over in a month or two :)

I find it interesting that the Amplify Signature does not have a Qantas logo on it anywhere - all my other Qantas FF cards (ANZ, Amex, Westpac) all have a Qantas logo on them.

Tried to set up automatic payment on this card today only to find out you have to manually fill in a form and post or take to a branch - how inconvenient, for amex I was able to set up direct debit online. SGB even more archairc than westpac (yes I know the same group but different systems).

We still continue to do the St George Dance. More copies of this and that. They cannot understand a guaranteed super pension, plus a part time job.
I'm growing weary of it all.

I just got my qantas lounge invitations and the 80,000 bonus points after 3 months of receiving card.

But I booked some overseas hotel on this card for my holiday in October. Would have to keep this until then for the travel insurance protection and in case the booking needs the card for verification?

If you close the card, you won't get the included travel insurance. Depends on the hotel whether they will ask you to validate credit card used to book on check-in. I've never had this happen but am used to being asked for ID.
