Credit Card Offers St.George Amplify Qantas Signature: 80,000 bonus Qantas Points (expires 30/4/25)

ZMan, you should be able to give the hotel a story about forgetting to bring that card (I've honestly done that in the past). Very unlikely they will cancel a paying customers booking because of incorrect card (what if it was lost/stolen), also can you modify your booking details onlune/via email?

Travel insurance will almost certainly be void, however try booking your flights with a card you'll keep.

I would double check there are no pre-reservation charges from the hotels befire cancelling too.

I was rejected for this card back in December. Anyone know how long you need to wait before re-applying for this card?

This is a great deal and would hate to have to pass on it!

There is no official period to wait.

If you think your circumstances have changed reapply.

When was the last time you applied for and/or received any other cards in the Westpac group?

Westpac group

St George / Bank of Melbourne / Bank SA are treated as one and the same wrt eligibility for these offers (re exclusion periods), but Westpac even though the parent company is always treated separately. SGB/BoM/BSA use the same systems, Westpac IT systems are largely still separate.

I ask because in the past, I had a card application rejected because I had applied for a card in the group less than 3 months after opening another one in the group. Forgot which one was first (Westpac or St George), however that was the reason they had on file. After serving that waiting period, a new application went through with no problem.

Thanks - I haven't applied any westpac group cards for ages...I am out of my westpac waiting period but the current offer is $500 for 120k points - way too expensive for me.

Applied yesterday, sent in info and approved 90 mins later! A record for me, as well as being such a huge change to my last experience back in early Dec!

I’m half expecting they made a mistake...

Interesting. Seems mrs tizey got paid her birthday bonus upon closure of the account. 10% bonus points credited to her account, despite it being nowhere near her Bday.

Many other strange (but beneficial) things happen post closure of this card :)

Applied 2 weeks ago - got denied, asked for a review, got one - then denied cause my non-taxed fringe benefits aren't deposited into a bank account under my name - in spite of a letter from my employer. Applied again as a join application with partner, keep getting asked to upload payslips in spite of having done so. Almost another week later and customer rep now says another 1-2 days to process. Glad some of you got it quick - for me it was painful.

I used this card to book (guarantee a booking) for some accomodation in Hong Kong later in the year.

Got an email from the hotel saying the card had been declined, so ended up having to use another card. Have no idea why the transaction would be declined given I used the online tool to notify travel dates before the purchase, the amount was a relatively small purchase. SGB fraid never contacted me to check the transaction, it makes me wary of keeping this card once i have the sign-on bonus as ive never had oversea hotel bookings rejected on any other credit card Ive held.

I try to keep it simple.

I gave them my main income source only; left out a second pension, investment property rent, shares, part-time work, etc., etc.

I applied on Friday last week, got instant conditional approved, card received by today, total processing time plus post is 4 days.

Wow, husband applied a few weeks ago, lots of tooing(?) and froing(?) because of super pension and second income (after reading here we should have left that off the application as it is not regular). No decision yet, we send a text (as they say that that is the preferred correspondence and the reply comes back that there is a backlog in processing it and they are working on it.
I am almost over it but am annoyed with the hassle and work with scanning and sending in additional copies, so feel that we deserve the bonus points so hanging in there at this stage.

Looking at options now with so many devaluations flying (!) around.
Does anyone know the minimum income required to apply for this card ?
(Apologies in advance if it has been answered further up the thread and I've missed it).

Not sure what the minimum is. I know some of the other major banks have $75k income requirements for similar cards, so you'd probably want to have an income somewhere in that ballpark at a minimum one would think.
