St George Rewards Signature KrisFlyer Devaluation

lol

all i need to do is find that better alternative
I am trying to decide between Suncorp and Citi Prestige as they have different price points for annual fee. Due to some long term leave at half pay need to make a decision between these two as I will not be able to apply for another card until August 2024. Any thoughts?

So on my average monthly spend of $20k.
The STG card still comes out in front even after the devaluation when compared to the HSBC *A card

Im out. Time to go back to churning
I tend to agree with this mindset. With airlines increasing the number of points required for bookings and the banks reducing redemption/transfer rates, it's becoming virtually impossible for anyone without a business to earn sufficient points for J awards. Churning is the only way to go, but even that has been getting harder lately with NAB increasing the exclusion period to 18 months and many others introducing a second year annual fee hurdle for a component of the points to be awarded.

I’m surprised the AFF article posted today didn’t include or mention Citi Bank / Prestige- I guess Citi doesn’t pay anything to AFF and the ones they chose to include do?

I can assure you that has absolutely nothing to do with it. The cards chosen for the list in that article are purely based on being the best earning cards for KrisFlyer miles, and are ranked in order of earn rate. The reason the Citi Prestige card isn't in the list is because you only earn the equivalent of 0.4 KrisFlyer miles on everyday transactions, so it's not among the top earners which get you 0.5 KrisFlyer miles or more per $1 spent.

Admittedly, the equation does look a bit better if you're using the Citi Prestige card for international spend, at supermarkets/petrol stations or on airlines/hotels/restaurants. But the list in that article is based on the everyday earn rate. If you're often using the Citi Prestige card on transactions that attract bonus points, then yes, it could be worth looking into.

Bizarre you quoted my post yet my post has disappeared????
Mine probably will soon….

It's truly astounding how bad Australian credit card points earning has gotten in the last 6-12 months with massive devaluations across the board.

I think you can earn 2 citi point/$ with the linked diner's club card via Sniip @ 1.5%, which equates to 0.8 KF @ 1.5% surcharge.

@AFF Editor honestly for a second do not think post was deleted. But it did disappear for a time and I did not edit it.

So my question remains taking into account current sign up bonus, Citi Prestige or Suncorp platinum?

Both my jones and myself have amplify signature cards with BoM and neither of us has had any communication about this devaluation.
Was this an email, snail mail, in the app or something else?
We only convert to KrisFlyer and 2:1 was great.
Oh well, we are about due for a churn so this is the prompt we need.
I received a Snail mail letter posted on 27/6.

Both my wife and I have this. I think we'll both hang onto it.

Family pool into one VFF account when there is a 15% bonus, then transfer to KF.

Nothing else seems to come close for uncapped spending

I'm was already winding my St George card down ready to cancel. Got the letter yesterday and thought it was good timing.

Maybe time for an official AFF post on best cards for churning bonuses?
