Status credits - Pls explain

What concerns me is the definition of preferred seating and priority luggage tags.

Closest I have found so far is on the OneWorld site (you can nominate a seat)

Preferred seating
Where offered, oneworld member airlines allow their most frequent customers to nominate a preferred seat in advance of their flight, and will now also try to honour requests of Qantas Platinum (Gold/Silver) Frequent Flyers with oneworld Emerald (Sapphire/Ruby) status wherever possible.

Seems that offering seating to gold and silver is entirely consistent with this.

I don't disagree - it is just that the benefits that are documented (except for preferred seating) are clear and being delivered upon.
To some people preferred seating and priority luggage are the most important privileges of status. Yes I know I am expecting too much.

Still sounds very ambiguous to me. This appears to be an area the airlines want to avoid. I don't mind if preferred seating is not listed as a privilege of status but when it is stated as a privilege of status then I expect this to be honoured.

And yes I know there is going to be a huge difference in my interpretation of preferred seating as opposed to the airlines interpretation....

OT How many treads do I have to read about "Qantas is diluting my WP benefits"?

No airline is going to guarantee seating.

I don't think I asked for guaranteed seating. I was referring to preferred seating. There is a difference.

Anyway I better leave this alone as some people are getting agitated over what is being posted.

Just imagine Status Credits as if they are brownie points you earn when you do good things with your partner :D ;)

Its like Qantas, the more you fly with them (or their OW friends) - Qants likes you more - you acheive more SC's - and if you earn enough, will reward you with elite member benefits.
Sorry brownie points expire a lot sooner than status credits ;)

We must be on the same anniversary month, time for me to start over again also.

80 SC's tomorrow will be a nice way to kick off the new year.
Unfortunately for me the road to Platinum this year is going to be a long one with only domestic travel planned and no foreseeable paid international travel.

Ahh thats a bummer m8. My 80 SC's tomorrow is actually a PER-SYD K fare with the double points promo. Trying to get my employer to schedule as much as possible this month as it's the last in the promo.

See if you can get a few of your regular SYD-BNE trips in this month and take advantage of double SC's while it's still available.

Some of use weren't eligible for the promotion :(

And here I was thinking I had problems trying to fit the little plastic doo-hickeys to my new PS baggage tags.....and then working out how to put them on my suitcase! It must have been that second glass of red....

I was not offered either of the double SCs promotions....

A quick question from a status newbie. Does the 'status bonus" apply to SC's as well as miles? So as a silver you get a 25% loading on all status credits earned and 100% as platinum?

Thanks for any feedback.

No!

SC's earned are flat rate irrespective of status.
e.g. Flying BNE to AKL:
Code:
Route: Brisbane - Auckland
Class: Discount Economy
Status Base points Cabin bonus Status bonus Total points Status credits

Platinum 1,426 - 1,426 2,852 20
Gold 1,426 - 713 2,139 20
Silver 1,426 - 357 1,783 20
Bronze 1,426 - - 1,426 20

The answer is no.

If only! That would be a fantastic way of getting and maintaining status. But sadly, unlike with AA and their challenges, there appear to be no short cuts to status on QF (other than Chariman's Lounge, which is the unattainable forbidden fruit for us pleb non-celebs / chairpeople). :)

No, but once you achieve silver, you get a 14% discount on the SC's required to maintain silver!

Some lateral thinking there Mark ...

There have recently been 2 reported targeted offers from QF for double/bonus SCs on QF flights during a certain period.

Double SC's on QF flights - Targeted bonus offer
extra status credits to help you requalify

I remember being targeted for a similar offer back in my first QFF year in 2003 and just made it to Silver and haven't looked back since. Would have loved to have been involved in the recent targeted offers....

Most QFF's have never been targeted JohnK, so don't think you are the only one. Once you have achieved (and maintain) the heady heights of Gold and Platinum, then bonus offers are probably a pipe dream. Most, if not all, targetted offers are made to Bronze & Silver members, who are the largest percentage of the QFF program. Mrs LW was targetted for the double SC offer when Silver, but still couldn't make it to Gold - but she did fly a little more with me during the offer period. That cost me plenty

Lindsay Wilson,

The first offer mentioned by JohnK in post #38 was an offer to WP's to help them re qualify.
