slapping myself now. I thought the offer ended 23rd Jan so I applied tonight but decided to pick the bank of melbourne one instead. Will have to pay the $179 annual fee instead of the $0 Annual fee offer :(

Should definitely check point hacks AND here next time. Lesson learnt.

You may be able to give them a call and withdraw your application.

Does anyone know what a BPAY equivalent transaction is? If I pay the bill by directly going to the billers website and using my credit card, will it be considered a BPAY equivalent transaction?

My council rates can be paid using a payment scheme called BPOINT. It is similar to BPAY. I believe this T&C is aimed at similar new products that may appear.

Meeting the spend is the least of my worries and I'm a low spender! More pressing is the bad reports of StG, random declined applications and chasing up the bonus points!
Agree. I remember the hoops from a $50 free transaction account a while back.
Keen for reports of successful applications with small credit limits

I’ll have to suck it up because I’m trying to avoid to affecting my credit score too much. Since a credit check prob has been done on the application I’d have to wait another 3-4 mths to apply for a different card

Been a number of StGeorge threads with updates to the deals but still old thread titles. Was becoming confusing I think so here's a new thread for the latest (updated) StGeorge offering.

80,000 QFF points for $0 (first year).

Spend $4000 within first 90 days.

2 QFF lounge passes.

Ends March 6, 2019.

'Existing customers who currently hold a Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer. The bonus points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria is met.'

Thank you for sharing this.

I was rejected a couple of months ago for this card, but I'm going to give it another go with hubby.

He's retired and has one of those govt pensions that go until the day you die, and then I get a % of his pension until I die.

He never seems to get rejected for card offers, lucky bugger!

Curious to know, is there an ideal wait time between applying for new cards so your credit score isn't impacted too much?

5 minutes - unlikely the score/report would have been updated in that time so hit up 2 or 3 within a 10 minute period :).

Kidding!!! Borrow responsibly people.

I have found that in my case the hit to my score doesn't last long, down one month, back up the next. Am sure this varies dependant on individuals though, if you are concerned my advice is to actively monitor your score.

I've had many applications and many closures without any movement in credit scores.

Recently? Ive found with the final introduction of CCR much more info is being reported to the bureaus, so am seeing a lot more frequent changes to my score (but the impact of each is smaller).

the fake credit score is meaningless concern. Lenders exercise caution when there is a high number of credit enquiries in a short period of time, as that can indication fraud, or someone like a miner going on a bender with a hooker called Molly Mounds, just before he is going to die.

How many is too many, well that depends, on exactly when, what type, amounts, who with, who they are and other aspects on the application.
However just two in any period of time, is really no concern at all and quite typical.

Hi - I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I have searched it and can't find a definitive answer for the St George card specifically. Regarding the transactions not counted in the minimum spend to get the bonus points, do “government fees” only mean ATO payments and fines etc? My main question is would car registration and council rates count towards minimum spend?

The T&Cs state the following: Eligible purchases do not include BPAY or BPAY equivalent transactions, fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds, balance transfers debited from the card account, government fees and ATO payments.

The PDS says the following: government charges (other than GST payable in connection with the purchase of goods or services on which you earn Qantas Points)

I was pretty unimpressed the last time I applied for a St George card - had a few delays, paperwork randomly got lost, was asked by email to go to a branch to verify ID but branch staff were confused and said it wasn't required.

This time around, thumbs up from me - applied on 22/1, application process went smoothly, received approval email on 24/1 for 16k limit. Didn't see any mention of specific minimum credit limit anywhere.

Fingers crossed no issues with getting the bonus points...

Its 0.75 QFF points per $ spent. However, there does not appear to be a cap on the max points earned per month.
10% birthday bonus, if you are still holding the card on your birthday..

Credit Savvy hasn't moved for 6 month. Equfax (GetCreditScore) has been the same for 3 months and 10 point increase prior to that and 3 consistent months prior where there was an increase - prior to that it was 12 months of the same.
