The D sticker is at checkin. You will need to have ID as the details are written on the sticker.

Don't even bother with a WP card - They Don't Care WYA.

But they do care at the F Lounge, so make sure you have it then!

re: Strategy to get "Early" JQ check-in for International

Extra question which i suspect Markis10 may have the answer to....

If one was already airside without a D sticker (eg. Arrived at SYD from AKL).

Where would you go to check-in?

Or do you have to go landside and come back through?

If you already have your boarding pass, you can just go through SYD transit security and you don't need a D sticker, because you'll clear immi when you get to MEL.

re: Strategy to get "Early" JQ check-in for International

D sticker will get you through immigration but if security is long, express card can still be useful at that point.

We got caught out in Jan, with uber long security lines.

Really?

You can use both "Express" pax and Air Crew / APEC lines using only a "D" sticker (Both Immi and Security). I have never personally had any trouble getting through quickly...

(NB: I always carry spare express cards just in case.)

FWIW, I also have a few JQ-branded express passes from the few times I have actually flown Jetstar / * Class.

You dont need a boarding pass to go through transit, it can be collected at the transit desk within a few hours of departure, and you can access the F lounge without it, as 6 of us did last year.

Only six? Hehe.

Does this plan still work?

OLCI - Arrive T2 8am - JQ Service Desk for BP - train to T1 - First check in for D sticker - 6 hours in Flounge?

No - you can no longer OLCI for this segment.

No - you can no longer OLCI for this segment.

Bummer. Has that taken early check in off the table or is there a workaround?

No workaround that I am aware of. You have to present in person.

As posted, in this situation, you can only check-in by attending in person, at T-3 hrs...

JQ/QF have been quite strict with this of late.

You can no longer OLCI on the JQ website for a JQi flight eg JQ35 if that segment was booked direct through the JQ website, however if you booked a multi city trip on the QF website eg BNE QF SYD JQ MEL so it was on the one pnr, when you OLCI for the QF flight you may also get your JQi boarding pass at the same time.

I have done this when booking an award ticket through QF using the multicity tool for flights QF8 BNE/SYD connecting JQ35 SYD/MEL.

See above.

That's the case for checking in at the airport, however OLCI can be done 24 hours prior. If successful in getting your JQi boarding pass at the same time as the QF one in above scenario just make sure you get an orange 'D' sticker to put on the JQi boarding pass. As customs stamp this orange sticker on the boarding pass you will need to retain that to hand into customs on arrival in MEL.

The only other issue I see is to board the JQi flight they will need to scan a proper JQi bit of cardboard (3D?) as the QF OLCI one won't work. When you get that boarding pass at the gate, don't whatever you do throw away the OLCI one as that has the stamped orange 'D' sticker on it that you need to give customs.

That is impressive, I have tried to get JQ35 on a QF itinerary (combined with QF8 is ideal) and it has yet to come up for me. How did you manage it?

Multi city tool ie a BNE/SYD availability then a SYD/MEL one. I did try doing a BNE/MEL availability but while it came up with QF8 in the BNE/SYD list of flights, JQ35 was not in the SYD/MEL options.

re: Strategy to get "Early" JQ check-in for International

Slightly off topic, if I may

Booked a JQ35 for MEL SYD in Feb 2014

Randomly checked that date today and saw that time slot is now JQ513 departing T2.

Given that it is not suitable for a Flounge experience, what option, if any, do I have to get full refund back from the Orange Carrier ?

Or, it is now time for "life experience" and move on ?

Thanks

Zero chance of a refund

I had a similar experience a few weeks back, where my flight changed from international to domestic :(

Best advice for booking there INT-DOM flights is to not book too far in advance, as JQ fiddles with the schedules too much

A life experience IMO

Also in the cancelled bunch the other week. Seems to happen a fair bit. You get an $8 airport food voucher so you can seem like a really nice person to some random in the Hungry Jacks line on your way to the J lounge for 3 hours.

It's always a 50-50 proposition with Jetstar on these runs.

Was fooled by the $49 special fare !

Turned me off JQ with this schedule tinkering.

Sure, one of those "life experiences" moment

re: Strategy to get "Early" JQ check-in for International

Just checked my JQ35 flight in a couple of weeks time with dread...fortunately, it is still scheduled to depart from T1.

I assume you mean JQ36. Have you checked if there is still an international tag flight on that day for the route? If there is you could try asking to be moved to the other flight. A reason could be having to meet someone transiting in the international area for work.
