Strategy to obtain US Amex

I called the Amex CS after being advised to do so by online chat when I enquired about linking ITIN . They agent seemed to have no clue and said it didn’t work when she tried to add in Ssn field . Spoke to specialist and came back to request me to send copy of national ID ( can I send oz passport ) along with letter . I asked if I should send copy of itin letter she said I could . She asked me to mail it to P.O. Box in El Paso Texas after Which my national ID?? Will be linked . Didn’t make much sense to me and I have my doubts they knew what they were talking about .
Anyone have any idea on same ?

Update on B of A. After jumping through the usual auto-phone cough I finally got a human. She says the AirFrance card is "in the system" to be processed within 3 business days. She couldn't push it through. But she can't see any credit limit assigned so apparently there are still humans involved somewhere.

I am going to let the Amex proceed through the system. At this point, it suits me if it gets approved in June so I have longer to meet the spend. As long as I have the 70k Delta miles promo locked in. Amex is a bit trickier because not everyone takes Amex. My Turkish dentist does which I will be seeing in early Sept. And I can provide the exact document they want by 9 June if my bluff with the Chase Freedom statement doesn't work.

Does anyone if you need a SSN to apply for a Citi Premier card? Or is it enough to have an ITIN?

This is beyond ridiculous! Like a real person at a bank is going to bother writing a personal letter and giving their phone extension. Even when you call a branch you get am automatic answer with the same menus. I can definetely supply a checking account statement on 9 June. But there is no way I would get a personalized letter like this.

That is extremely frustrating. Have you tried calling back up to request a three way phone call with the bank like others in this thread have done?

I got my banker at hsbc us to do so . But then I was a premium premier customer with a relationship manager . Any RM should be able to do so .

I have been with Bank of America for over 40 years (savings account, probably even longer if you count a Christmas account I had when I was a kid). Back then it wasn't so hard to get a human to talk to you. I am not a premium anything, just a normal customer. These days everytime I even try to call a branch I still get the automatic system.
I need to wait until 9 June to at least get the checking account statement with my new address on it. Then it will match with the updated Experian account. Then I can try for a 3 way phone call again.

If it is any help, I have been waiting for Amex to verify my address through a bank statement uploaded to their system. I have called every couple of days to check its status. Today the operator offered me the option of a three way call with the bank to verify my address. It was a very simple process, took 5-10 mins, and now my application has been approved and my card is on its way.

The hold up on my end is because I was previously using my Australian address as primary on all my B of A accounts. So the 9 May statement shows I am in Australia. I changed it online but now I need the June statement to post with the new Florida address. If I send anything with an Aussie address it will just complicate things further.

Does anyone know the cheapest but reliable courier service to get a credit card from the US to Australia if you are having a friend forward it? I think I got the B of A approved but I don't want to try to get them to send it to Australia as that may trigger more hassles from fraud.

I’ve tried both UPS and DHL, both are fast and DHL is a bit more expensive and a bit more reliable in my experience

Someone upthread posted about an elcheapo courier (Oz Post was in the mix somewhere). It was ‘reliable’ in that it turned up, from memory, but took weeks.

Depends on when you want to get your hands on the card I guess.

DHL took about a week for me. USD 49.00. However, there are cheaper options elsewhere, and longer delivery I’d say.

I can handle that. After all the stress better safe than sorry. Did you book it online or your friend took it in?

Last time I got a card, I used UPS world express saver for a card shipped from WY to VIC
Took around 4 business days to get here and the cost was around 60 USD
However the turnaround might be a bit different considering you’re shipping from FL
Mine was from a remote area in WY so had to transit through MN and KY before getting out of the US

Another option might be to get a pic of card and try and upload it in e wallet . If it works . Then a few months later . Have a replacement card sent to you .

Lol I have never used an ewallet but others have said they trigger fraud reviews. Probably best to get the actual card.
