Strategy to obtain US Amex

Just learnt my us will return any bank mail or cards as they do not accept mail . I had applied for a chase card and Amex . So I won’t learn anything . I now have a planet express address .
Does anyone know how long I should wait before I apply with chase again ?
Call Amex and Chase and ask them to expedite the cards. They will use UPS or DHL. I vaguely remember reading back a lot of pages and someone said that My US will accept anything from a courier, maybe not plain US mail.

I suppose people use Sniip for ATO payments with Amex but has anyone tried using their US Amex directly with the ATO before? I suppose the transaction will go through anyway but did anyone get a call from Customer Service Reps about it?

I know there is just a slight difference between 1.45% surcharge for direct payment and 1.5% surcharge for Sniip.

Or I could go with the good ol method of buying Coles Prepaid Mastercards and paying with that... 😅😅

only good if we can use discounted eGift cards to pay for the visa/MasterCards. I recall the good old days when we can use 5% discounted Wish card to buy Visa1Card.

I don't know the situation with the ATO, but it is extremely common in the US for people to use their tax bills to meet the minimum spend requirements on their Amexes, so I don't think US Amex have a problem with using the cards to pay tax bills.

Data point for those who can get Chase to send a card to Australia:
19 July Card approved and I called to get it expedited to Australia (being a prior customer of Chase)
21 July Card arrives in Botany NSW UPS office and sits around for 3 days.
24 July Card is sent to Brisbane
25 July Card is delivered in the afternoon

Following the 20 days message from Chase, today I got the formal approval email from Chase and the welcome kit will be arrived within 3-5 business days. This is my first card with Chase, so no dare to call them and ask for the card to be sent to Australia.

Congrats!
Do you mind sharing some more data around your approval?
Do you have an account with Chase? How long is your credit history and your score?
How many cards did you have at the time of applying?
ITIN or SSN?

Cheers

I applied on 23/07 with my ITIN, called the app status line, and got the 2 weeks message.
Then, today 28/07 I got the approval email.
I have no bank account with Chase and this is my first card with them. I got the credit history for 2 years approximately and my score when I applied for this card was 756 (Very Good)
I followed the Chase 5/24 rule, got one card from Citi, 3 from Amex, and 1 Cap1.

How did you get the Cap1?

I am eyeing up my next 2 cards bearing in mind Chase 5/24. I definitely want a CSP, just waiting to see if the SUB goes back up to 80k. In the meanwhile, Citi is ruled out as apparently (per Flyertalk) they don't like inquiries within the last 6 months. So I looked at Cap 1 Venture or even Venture X because I can use the travel credit and Priority Pass membership. But after reading on Flyertalk, they seem to be very difficult for anyone overseas. This American living in Japan tried and gave up. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/33761990-post33.html

Maybe for people who already have Google Voice it can work. But Cap 1 also seems fussy on prior inquires and new cards. But the sign up bonus is nice and since I have a lot of flights in the next 12 months in Y I could use the free Priority Pass.

My chase card has been approved . Unfortunately it will get sent to my old my us address and likely returned . Does anyone know how I can get it sent to my planet express addresss or even to Australia ? Does chase have the option of sending by courier ?

Pretty much the same process with my Chase card, but Cap1 asked me to upload my passport and ITIN for verification:

Government-issued Photo ID

  • Passport/passport card
  • Driver’s license
  • Resident alien/permanent resident alien card
Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)

  • Social Security card
  • Letter from IRS containing ITIN
  • W-2 tax form from the most recent tax year
Then, I got the approval email the next day and the card arrived 1 week later.

I am using T-mobile Wifi calling and I have never had any issues when receiving text messages from any US bank. I called Cap1 and they also texted me the message and received it well.

Did you get the T-mobile account while in Australia or the USA? From what I understood, the main hassle is the 2FA and they won't accept email 2FA. And you need a US cell phone provider with an account in your name, not a Voip like TextNow. That American in Japan seemed to try really hard to activate his Venture X but he ended up cancelling it because he couldn't get around the 2FA.

In Australia, I got 2 numbers 1 T-mobile and 1 GV (I got when I was in the US), both are working well, so if one doesn't work, I'll give a different number to the agent who wants to send a text message to verify my account, this is true for Citi because sometimes the agent told me this/that number can't be used for verification and asked me if I have another number.

How much do you pay for T-Mobile? Is it actually T-Mobile or one of their MVNOs like Ultra? (Apologies if I've asked you this before -- I remember asking someone in this thread about their phone set up.)

$3 monthly, this is T-mobile not MVNO, you can find one on Amazon or eBay.

Yes, it is, and yes can use wifi calling easily here in Australia, the same with UltraMobile someone mentioned posts above.
The verification text issue is for lines that do not accept Short Codes. I've had this issue and got it activated with my carrier and it was solved.
T-Mobile also has an mobile app that you can use in Australia to get an E-Sim instantly and get their prepaid service activated here in Oz. But it costs $10/mo, I've used this before and it works fine in Oz.
