Strategy to obtain US Amex

Update. I couldnā€™t resist the Green card 60,000 MR offer. Anyway, instant approval tonight, making it my 4th by GT.
Out of the 3, how many where charge cards? I hear that you can't apply more than 3 in 90 cards for actual credit cards

Only Charge card for me is the most recent, being Green. And my four card applications have been spread over three years (including 3 x HH, mostly for the bonus points, but also for the Aspire benefits, and all of these suited my situation).

Anyway, 4 x GT certainly can happen.

Interesting - if you have previously held an account with AMEX can you do a GT still? Or do you need an open account, and then wait 3 months. Wife is waiting the 18 month period
Think you need an open account . Although if you still have a working log in you can try as you need an Oz log in for gt .

Congratulations. Interested in your thought process behind going for the Brilliant card?
The missus and I have quite few stays in Marriott properties booked for the rest of the year (also looking to make more bookings with them on 2024) and want to see if Platinum status does pay off with free breakfast and potential lounge access. As you can see this is kind of a gambleā€¦

Thereā€™s a time-limited, best ever offer on the Amex Green: 60K MR after $3K spend in 6 months + 20% back on travel & transit (up to $200)

That means the card pays you $50 and 60K MR in the first year.

This card is fantastic for people based in Australia:
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • 3x on travel worldwide
  • 3x on transit worldwide
  • 3x on restaurants worldwide
  • $189 CLEAR credit per calendar year
  • $100 Loungebuddy credit per calendar year
  • $150 annual fee
You can sign up (including via GT) using the referral link Iā€™ve posted in the referral thread.
When is the deal valid to?

If I was to get my partner to apply for this via the GT route would they check her income? She has been on maternity leave so income has been patchy this last year..

I setup a HSBC global account last week and called up this morning and they told me my account is already premier. I asked about setting up a US account and they said there is usually a $200 fee for this. Does this sound like other peoples experience? She tried contacting the international team but they were closed so said I would receive a call back..

I have opened an HSBC US account about a month ago and it took me 1 month to open.
