Strategy to obtain US Amex

Need to do through RM who put you in touch with IBC who complete process over phone with forms signed at branch .
Mention you are moving / buying property /. Among investments
Great, found the info here, cheers. Anyone know how long it takes to get a relationship manager assigned after opening HSBC premier account? When I called the lady didn't know this answer either.

It took maybe 5-7 business days, but its a long as form and when they call, it was last for ages so be prepared
What kind of info should I have on hand? I note blacksultan post advised to mention moving to USA / property etc. Obviously ill have a US phone number and US address to provide.

I just told them that I travel to the US frequently and it makes sense to have a US bank account to stop my cards from getting blocked. I also said I am looking to go to the US for work within 12 months.

No US number or address needed for HSBC (you don't need it)

Kinda gobsmacked, but I put a few thousand worth of spend on the card later that evening, transaction has posted and I'm now OUT of pop-up jail and successfully approved for my 3rd GT!
Well done. I've heard that Amex wants to see consistent spend but it's good to know that a large sum works well.

I was putting consistent quite a bit of spend on the Aspire as it's my go-to card for any non AUD personal transactions, but I really have no use for the Surpass and only signed up when there was a good SUB. A good reminder to throw some minor subscription onto each of your cards - Netflix, Spotify, etc, just to have some spend going through each of them!

When is the deal valid to?

If I was to get my partner to apply for this via the GT route would they check her income? She has been on maternity leave so income has been patchy this last year..
There is no expiry date listed at the moment. Will probably last for at least a month, maybe more maybe less.

Amex USA do not check incomes unless you trigger a financial review by, for example, putting huge amounts of spend on the cards.

Great I'll just to have to do that.

However, I did get my first US charge card 3 months ago, next was a credit card was 2 months ago and the final card was only 5 days after the other credit card LOL

Just tried for a second GT (approx. 3 months post first application with no credit score). Unfortunately was told can't apply through GT a second time...YMMV!

Are you doing this on-line, or by phone? The reason I ask is that I am doing y GT on-line and never need to speak with anyone at Amex

I've had a similar issue when trying to apply for a 2nd GT online at the 4 month mark. I called up and they said they've matched my profiles and I'll need a FICO score before trying again.

I did this online. Pre-populate info from international relationship. Got an email saying they need further documents which was a US income statement. Called up and asked and they said I can't do a second GT.

Apparently the application is open for 60 days before it's cancelled. So if you get a FICO over this period you could still apply for a review.

I'm in the USA at the moment and I've successfully applied for a BoA bank account. A family member of mine can add me as a supplementary card holder on their Amex Platinum. I read that it can improve my credit score, is that worth doing for the $175 fee?

No, because Amex don't really care about your credit score as long as it isn't diabolically low and Chase, etc don't count authorised users when determining your eligibility for cards.

But if you really want one, get the free Gold supplementary card rather than the $175 Platinum supplementary card.

Also I Believe that their credit will affect yours .

Unless you call and have it reconsidered it will also take up one of your 5/24 slots .
