Strategy to obtain US Amex

I made a payment via XE on Wednesday night. When should I expect it to be reflected on the Amex account?

Update: Logged a request on Tuesday with Amex, and they confirmed payment received today. I paid extra USD20 on top of my statement balance, but it seems I got the full amount into Amex, i.e. my account is now showing -$20.00

Very strange, as both of my payments have been acknowledged as having been received by Amex (via my account alerts) in just over 12 hours after having been sent by xe (i.e., xe advised at about 10.30am that payment had been sent, and Amex alert received before 12 midnight that same day).

However, at least it all ended well for you.

Yes. However thought that XE should have deducted $20 or maybe I got lucky

Yes, well a saving of $US20 is good. 😀 Funny that the intermediary USA bank didn’t take the $20 cut. XE shouldn’t take a cut.

You are using your bank account funds transfer, rather than through BPay to xe, aren’t you? Only asking as BPay to xe takes longer

XE also take PayID, it’s the fastest way.

Would this work for payments?

This has been asked before, at the moment they don't support direct debit for USD accounts, and will not transfer money to Amex directly, hence not an option until they enable direct debit for USD.

Can you use this account to transfer $250 per month between BoA and TW accounts to save on monthly fees?

Have you guys charged by MyUs for deliverying your CC?
Im on a free account with them, but charged $22 and they are sending my CC

The MyUS website has a shipping calculator that you can use to see the costs. Also, you can select your preferred courier.

What card did you get?
Yes, feel free to tell us more. 😀

How would you get free Courier delivery (i.e., from Sarasota to Oz)? There are costs associated with that (as indicated on the MyUS website).

mostly an assumption on my part. For some reason i thought free account means one free delivery per month or something like that

Like everyone else my CC got held up in their “lost and found” box despite putting my suite number twice. Finally sort it out after providing them senders address - they wouldnt “release” the letter Until i provided with them the senders details

I got hiltons Aspire

Just to clarify, I was under the assumption the Hilton Aspire card and Green card (unboxing videos utube) are sent in a regular letter and such you would be required to upgrade to mail and package plus fill in application for delivery of mail form.

Bonvoy Brilliant which I received is sent in a fancy box and looks like a parcel, same with Gold and Platinum cards.

Or as others have said maybe if it has a tracking number.

The are about a dozen, or so, things that they list on their website as being free (Suite address, consolidation, repackaging, ....) but forwarding is not one of them.

Just to add to this, my Aspire card arrived as a package from Amex, close to 10mm thick, so definitely not something that could be called a letter and had tracking from Amex from Omaha to Sarasota, and then courier tracking (I used FedEx) from Sarasota to Oz.

Well, not exactly everyone else. I’ve posted upthread (Post 493, on 4th Feb) about my experience in obtaining the Aspire card. I mentioned that I used the term Apt, rather than Ste, and had no issues with the card going astray at MyUS. Amex used the full address, including ‘Apt xx_x-xx_’. Perhaps a coincidence, but it worked for me.

Interestingly, no-one else has posted that they have tried this method. Anyway, Ste does not seem to work with Amex.

Thanks for the data point as the Aspire will be my next card, the reason I mentioned it was I helped my work colleague get the Aspire and his was sent in a standard letter format but used a Hawaiian address.
