Strategy to obtain US Amex

DP: regarding getting a card sent overseas by Amex. Card was approved 7 days ago, and was sent 5 days ago via USPS. Called today as I can see that tracking suggests that it was delivered (not sure how) but I was able to request a card to delivered to Aus.

Edit: For those who have the Gold Biz card, how many of the "US Categories" only work in the US? E.g. Restaurants and Gas Stations?

What is the best way to contact Amex to get your card delivered after 7 days? Call a certain number? Or livechat works too.

I believe you can only call. You can track the card on the app and it'll show delivered. This was USPS. Once that happens, you can call.

Has anyone successfully linked their US Amex to their Australian PayPal account? It now requires you to put in the billing address of the card but without the option to change the country. Any ideas 🤷‍♂️
Yeah it's not easy to do now. I had to enter a half usa and half aus address to even get it to let me add the card. Then PayPal told me the card needed to be verified likely because of the incorrect address. They sent a payment from PayPal to the card with a 4 digit code which I had to enter on PayPal. Now it's linked but no longer easy.

I have GV and Chase still has issues sending me texts. The thing with GV/Google Fi though is that I can accept calls so they can verify me that way. I always request that they call my GV/Google Fi # so they can verify my ID.

YMMV but it might be worthwhile getting a phone number where you can accept calls to provide an additional step for verification. I would add a phone # to an existing account and let it report to the bureaus for a month or two.
Just ordered an e-sim from Tello and it appears to be working well over wifi. Unsure if it will work for 2FA verification texts from Chase and other banks but i've added it as a work number to my Amex Profile. Is there any way of adding it as an additional mobile number instead of a work number or doesn't it matter? Just want to make sure the number will be reported to the bureaus for future CC applications.

I have a USA Gold Card

Just been offered to “request an upgrade” to Platinum (100,000MR with $6k spend in six months)

Tempted but not convinced. The spend is pretty easy, but

Does anyone have experience with this? The Gold Card was a GT. if I request the upgrade will they

a. require an SSN or an ITIN since this is now a local transaction?

b. well they require income verification etc?

I don’t have, and so can’t provide ‘a’ and I can’t be bothered with ‘b’ and, of course it’s an Australian income

Any DPs?

I have the same one with green card. Shame I just got the biz gold. Otherwise I would have tried to double stack.

Side bar but when I go to AMEX GT and check available cards I don't see the AMEX gold card as one of the cards available...

Incognito?
I never knew to use it. I just tried and I can see the gold card. Thanks. Do you need to use this to see other cards as well or on other US credit / banking websites?

Ive just been approved for my first US AMEX green card. Can I apply for a gold card after 7 days? Ive read upthread people have had success applying for a second AMEX GT a short time after their first approval..

Yes, I actually found it by mistake, initially, (may have been a general Google search; actually can’t recall for certain) and then when I went through the GT process, I did a specific search for it

Does anyone else here have the Chase UA card? I got the pleasant shock of my life when I had to rebook a schedule change. I had paid something like 44K UA for BNE-YVR-MIA on AC several months ago before the price increase. Then AC cancelled the nonstop YVR-MIA and put me on YVR-YYZ-MIA which I hated. So I had to call UA to get it changed to BNE-SFO-MIA which wasn't available when I made the original booking and got a refund of some 9000 miles!

Apparently it's some kind of special for card holders for today only 13 Dec in the USA so work fast if you are interested! I think there is less than 7 hours left.

I am hoping to get some advices please on what my next move is. So I applied for ITIN and got it. Have not done any GT yet.
1. Is it right I still can go apply for CC with my ITIN - I have not got US CC yet.
2. With my ITIN, US address and Talkatone ready but no US CC history which Cards should be my go to card for more chance of approval. Is Amex the only way to go?
3. Can someone please give me a link to the best offer for Amex cards if that's the only way to go.

Thanks for all your guidance and sharing.

Wow that was fast for ITIN.

Need to get GT first as when you apply for cards, you will have no credit history and won't be able to get a card. Usually you need your ITIN 9 months after you have had a US amex card so you have credit history.
