Strategy to obtain US Amex

Ok I think I'm ready to do my first GT
I have
- paid 4 statements on the Aus platinum
- a US address (relative)
- a GV number

Am I able to use any referral link from anywhere (with a good SUB), or do I need to go through the pages linked through my Aus account ?

If I can use any links, I guess I might wait until there is a good SUB on the Green...

Update: After 31 days and numerous phone calls to Chase to verify identity while being told my application was subject to an extended review multiple times I received an email today that i've been approved for World of Hyatt with a 15.5k limit. Any recent DP's on Chase expediting card to Aus?

Congrats!

I've got the Aspire too, it was my first US card! But the Surpass currently comes with 130k + 1x free night, also a free night on 15k spend (as opposed to 30k & 60k) on the Aspire - so any normal spending (3x HH points) on that one and multiplier spend (airfare/car rental 7x, Hilton 14x) on the Aspire. I can use the Hilton credit from both plus the airfare credit from Aspire, so don't mind having both too much. The resort credit only on Aspire adds an extra hurdle, but there's Fiji and NZ nearby, plus a few in Asia - I haven't failed to use it yet.

Green is one of the better ones for travel especially, I think - disregarding the 60k SUB and 20% up to $200 back on travel spend, then hotels/travel (including the ALL Signature monthly fee), car parking, trains, transit, restaurants, etc. all earning 3x MR make it a good all rounder (especially when I can buy gift cards from QF, as they count as airfare).

Gold earns 4x MR on restaurants and 3x on airfare, so not sure it's a keeper long term (but SUB 75k and 20% back up to $250 on restaurant spend is good), but I'll keep it for now anyway.

I just got the Amex Hilton Aspire card. I am wondering if you have tried to buy gift cards (e.g. Wish) on Qantas and it triggers the $50 quarterly airline credit?

YMMV. If it's your first card, I would not risk jumping through hoops. I recall DPs where people got flagged for fraud when they tried to get their first card sent OS. Chase is a bit more stringent than Amex.

Couple of categorisation DPs -

Qantas Offset your Home purchase:
Appears on statement as QANTAS LOYALTY MASCOT AU
Expanded online statement entry reads QANTAS STORE
Categorised as 'Airfare' on Aspire and earned 7X - should work for airline credit

Qantas Hotels booking:
Appears on statement as QANTAS LOYALTY MASCOT AU
Expanded online statement entry reads QANTAS & JETSTAR HOTELS, shows 081 ticket number followed by long alphanumeric Hotels booking ref
Categorised as 'Other purchases' on Aspire and earned 3X
Would you know JB HIFI gift card or Wish gift card on Qantas.com are also categorised as "Airfare"? I am hoping to use the airline credit for this quarter (before 30 June).

Why can’t Chase send it to the address that they have on-file? Then get it forwarded to Oz. Certainly avoids any potential red flags.

Quick question on Amex Hilton Aspire. I just received the card today and I have activated it online. Added to my google pay wallet. However I am unsure on the below two things -

1. How do I download the US Amex app (android) on my phone? I can't seem to find it in my Google App store.
2. How do you set up the 4 digits pin for purchase? I know AU Amex cards are required to set up 4 digit pin for bigger purchases (more than $300 or something) at ETPOS machine.

Appreciate your helps on my two questions above.
I just purchased Wish gift card from Qantas Marketplace and I hope it'll trigger the quarterly $50 Airline credit on this purchase.

1. US Google account

2. You won't need one as you'll be asked to sign. This will be an issue when you try to pay for petrol in some countries like Europe.

It's my second Chase card. Would rather get started on meeting minimum spend asap. I've already added the card to Apple wallet but wanted to use it for some bills. IIRC there were some who managed to get subsequent Chase cards sent to Aus with relative ease but i'm not sure if that's still the case. That said 'relative ease' would not be the words I'd use to describe my Chase journey so far but they have some very useful cards so the effort has been worth it.

Is there a way to download it on my AU google account? I mean I don't have a spare phone to create a US google account and install the US Amex app. I am hoping to have both Amex AU app and Amex US app on the same phone. Is there a APK I can download?

You don't need a spare phone. Just create a US based account and add it. Change your play store account and download.

Can confirm the above - I have both AU and US app on same phone without using (potentially dodgy) APKs. Just add a second burner account to Play Store with the region set to US.

Trying to apply for Amex everyday cards for 2 of my family and friends through GT . Both have oz Amex platinum Charge since 3.5 months ago .
Wasn’t successful for GT for the first even with a call etc . She is an additional card holder on my own everyday card for at least 2.5 years . Reason for refusal was no credit history in US .
Does having an additional card registered at same address help to build credit history ? Any other tips or ideas ?

Yes it's still the case. Most of the time they'll do it over secure message. Occasionally they'll ask you to call in first.

Make sure you ask for it to be sent by 'rush delivery' (ie UPS) otherwise they'll send it via regular international mail and it'll take 2-4 weeks to arrive.

I think it depends on your relationship with Chase. A dual citizen with SSN and over 15 years of spotless history with Chase will have an easier time than a brand new customer. If you are planning to visit the States, it could help to visit a branch, show your passport and get them to add your Aussie address on. In this day and age, digital nomads are becoming more common so it shouldn't be too hard.

For those who went from obtaining an Amex via GT, how long did you wait until you started applying to Chase?
