Strategy to obtain US Amex

The US offers keep getting better and better. Chase has just upped its sign-up bonus on the Ink cards from 110K UR to 115K UR when referring from friends/family. Can be converted 1:1 to Hyatt, British Airways, Air Canada, Singapore, etc etc. All for ~$AUD276 (ie $0.0024/pt) stemming from the 3% FTF.

A new card can be safely attained every 3 months if your spend allows. Delivered in a few days by courier to your door in Australia.

Nothing in Australia comes even close. God bless America('s banking system).
Looks like you have got plenty of US issued cards :)

The US card now has a 150k points plus $200 credit. I was only approved for my first gold card (three weeks ago) and activated it last week.

Can I apply for the plat card with no itin? That is currently in progress.

This is great. I was just waiting to hear a success story using SH Studio. Going to apply this weekend through them. Can't resist to ask - any referral discount?lol
There’s referral links for 10% off available. Happy to send one through if you’d like.

The only reason to get Australian-issued cards is for Qantas points these days given that Australian banks hand out Qantas points for very low annual fees, and Qantas points are good for Platinum release of seats.

Otherwise 100% US cards. The offers are just too good and the points too useful.

Amex is fighting back on the sign-up bonus front! Some of the best bonuses since the depths of COVID-19.

Platinum is 150K + $200 statement credit.

Gold is 90K + $200 statement credit.

Both available only through a referral (may need to try the referral link in multiple browsers/VPNs to get the highest point offer). Happy to send my links to anyone who is eligible and interested.

Wow, the SUB is really good. Has anyone ever gotten a third Amex US card via GT? I had two this way and a bit wary about going for a third via GT.

So far it will be in-branch only but hopefully will go online. Is there any way to virtually "walk into a branch"? I will be in the USA 1 May but would not get the card in time to use for the overseas holiday in May.

Very likely it will go online a few days to a week later. I'd just wait for that to occur and apply then. You'll have plenty of time to get the card before May.

Have you not got your FICO score yet? Once you get it, you should be fine to apply via referral links. I applied for my Gold via the Resy link when I had my FICO.

Resy link?
MsProzac returning to US via Brazil where she arrived this week. Only there long enough for her US performing arts visa to come through then straight to Florida. Pulling my hair out trying to get her to apply for a US Amex. "Why would I want to when I have your card Dad?" Grrrrr.
Should I use her address when I apply?
When I spoke with Amex recently on an unrelated matter the call centre fella suggested I apply for the basic card first then use that to later apply for a more suitable card.

Yes way to check FICO without SSN?
In the Amex US app >go to account>scroll down to financial tools>FICO score.
I don't have a FICO score yet but I think that's what people in previous posts have mentioned.

I do, but how do you apply using a FICO score without a SSN/ITIN?

Anyone else here ever received an upgrade offer yet (e.g. Surpass to Aspire or from Gold to Platinum)?

Anticipating going from No Fee to Surpass if it ever comes this year.

Log in to your Amex account and try going to the link after you’ve done so. Should pick up that you’re logged in.

Google Resy Amex, should pull up the page with Resy Amex referrals. Alternatively, link: Resy | Right This Way

@sudoer might be able to help with the Hilton cards?

I just got targeted with a 100k upgrade from Gold to Plat. Not planning on taking it up until I’ve opened a Plat first. Will see if that’s still around after haha.

Thanks @mrsquare . Been trying to find what SH Studio is and why use it. I have missed something along the thread.

Hello everyone,

I tried to apply for the AMEX personal checking account by using my ITIN (I also have the Aspire card for 9 months now without the FICO score ) but AMEX emailed and said they wanted more info :
  • A copy of your Social Security Card, or an IRS letter 685c and
  • A copy of a non-expired valid Government-issued ID.
Has anyone here applied for the AMEX personal checking account and encountered such an email ?

Also, how do people answer for that IRS backholding question ? (I answered NO)

And can anyone recommend a good online fax service ?
(I think i will just fax them my ITIN letter from the IRS and passport copy and see what happens. Not upset if i don't get this checking account)

They’re a certified acceptance agent for the IRS. People have been using them to apply for an ITIN. That will allow you to apply for business cards or cards from other banks such as Chase, maybe Citi? Haven’t looked much into that as I’m still waiting for my ITIN too.
