Strategy to obtain US Amex

With Chase's 5/24, I am currently on 3/24. I have applied for chase again and waiting. I just received an upgrade to the Plat charge (from Gold), but I won't accept this until I apply for the plat charge itself. If I do apply for the plat charge, that would bring me to 5/24 (assuming I get approved for chase).

The question is, at 5/24, will be approved for chase biz cards or do I need to be at 4/24 to be approved for chase biz cards?

An upgrade shouldn't be considered a new account but others can confirm. Assume you apply and upgrade, you'll be at 4/24.

Chase requires you to be at 4/24 at the point of application. A personal chase card would put you at 5/24 and no longer eligible for future carda whereas a biz card would keep you at 4/24.

Thanks to both - I thought I was 4/24.

While the upgrade wouldn't be a new car, if I accept it, then I wouldn't be eligible for the new plat charge. If I get the new plat charge in a an app and then upgrade, I will get 2 SUBs

Yep that's correct. So you can apply and be at 4/24 then upgrade which should keep you at 4/24.

Need to be at 4/24 or below to apply although biz cards don’t count towards 5/24 .

Wonder if I can try a cheeky mid-Feb application after my last Chase Business approval in early Dec.

Worst they can do is say no!

Bilt promotion has been so great. Anyone here got your hand on Bilt cards and took advantage of transfer bonus?

I've heard a lot about it but I'm not sure what people's experiences are with WF? Not sure if they're doing the assessments or Bilt is. Beyond the 0% AF, I'm not sure there is any other benefit is there? Points earned categories seem similar to CSP with. Standout would be transfer bonuses?

Out of PUJ, looks like there is some relief when the New Year started. Could also mean showing constant spend on the Hilton Surpass card post the SUB. Kept spending on it until the end of 2023 for Base Points LT Diamond qualification and the FNC. No more CC spend counting as LT Diamond base points, as expected.

3rd GT instantly approved for the Marriott Bevy. Not the best card, not the best offer they have but its okay :). Time to get Bonvoyed...

Agree, however, they have AA and hyatt for spend that is doubled on the 1st of the month

Shame no SUB tho. Would be good to line up with a big purchase to get the intro earn bonus. I think you can earn up to 60k points as a intro bonus from spending 12.5K USD.

Not everyone gets this offer though. I am seriously considering if I miss out with chase again I will apply for this and venture x

@nthd_nthd

So, what do you think of below please?

a No AF Amex
A month later, a person Gold
Then every 3 months afterwards, Amex Business until a year or 18 months to apply Chase????

Some also consider the Hilton Aspire a consistent keeper card as the benefits are good. As a tip, a card with a credit limit tends to get a FICO score faster than a charge card (e.g. gold card).

YMMV with a personal gold card within 1-3 months. Some have been approved and some have been declined. Rule of thumb is that don't apply until you get your FICO score but that's impossible to know now since Amex doesn't show it anymore. So you really just have a take a shot and be comfortable being declined.

When should I apply for my 1st Chase credit card?
DP:
1. Amex Platinum (Opened May 2023)
2. Amex Hilton (Opened November 2023)

I just got pre-approved for the Capital One Visa Signature (via capital one site) but haven't apply for it yet.

Thanks

How far apart from your 1st, 2nd and 3rd GT?

Sometime between June-August 2024. Entirely depends on whether you have your FICO score. If you have a FICO score then I would say 13 months from your first card (e.g. June). Otherwise you're in the dark.

Agreed. I started mine with Platinum charge card, after 6-7 months when Fico posted it was at 660 score.

For Chase with 13 months of credit history, can you get approve for their Premium card like Chase Marriott Boundless or Chase IHG card?

Thanks
