Strategy to obtain US Amex

Ya. I think Amx has become very sensitive on the personal card front and it also depends on your strategy on how aggressively you want to pursue.

In this 14months journey so far, I've opened 7 Amx cards and closed one (Bevy) few days after the AF was posted - 3 personal and 4 Biz cards IME biz cards are relatively easier to get.
For 2 of the 3 personal cards I was in PUJ . For one I used a referral link to bypass and for the 3rd I used NLL link which helped to bypass. The only personal cards that I would like to pursue from here is brilliant and all the 3 charge cards - but will have to start with green unfortunately current offer is not that great..

I tried getting chase but I think they denied as they have been unable to verify my identity they didn't disclose much details on the call and I don't have access to the letters they sent. So that has made me pursue Amx, given amex is getting harder to get with PUJ and family rules being added left, right and center.
I'll be visiting US next April so will open few checking accounts then..till then gonna be on amx gravy train to collect what I can till then. I'm currently at 4/24 and appreciate that I may have to sit out for chase incase I were to get more aggressive from here...

Also, if anyone is interested..Amex Plat personal is showing 175k SUB for some folks...details in the below link -
How does one go about getting the Amex US Biz cards? Do they require a registered US business? Everyone in the US seems to go on about them (and with good reason!) but I'd always assumed they had some sort of registered business/loophole that made them eligible.

Australia's business cards obviously ask for an ABN, which is simple enough, but unless you're actively trading/filing taxes it seems pretty much impossible to get one (although I did get a Caltex fuel card a few years ago when they were offering 50k Qantas Business Reward points or something like that).

UK Amex business cards don't really ask for anything, but I've never managed to get a business card from any other bank over there (not that there's really anything worth having outside of Amex).

It goes without saying that the notes provided personally by @QF_Flyer are not to be shared across the internet. There are other threads on AFF where members have big-noted themselves on OZbargain by sharing codes etc and ruining a good thing for everyone.
Thanks @QF_Flyer .
No worries, and good call pointing that out, it's easy to end up with things getting shut down because people do things like calling up the company in question and asking outright, or it just gets so heavily abused it can no longer be overlooked.

That’s a good result. Hopefully they keep it going. Assuming that they may look at this at some point. Shame it’s once a year especially with the $A cratering.
I think they will, it's been around for as long as I can remember, although a lot of CSA's are a bit confused about what you're asking for sometimes. I most recently moved a couple of hundred thou from UK-US and the exchange rate is depressing, but 1:1 on both means it's still a win (UK is 3:2 SQ, except the ICC, so that's an improvement).

Biggest win was years ago when I had hundreds of thousands of UK points and the exchange rate to AUD was 1:2...just before Amex decimated the transfer rates. The whole lot ended up at SQ, fantastic arbitrage.

Anyway, I'm reminiscing over the good times, no point looking back on the past, just have to make with the now!

Just got approved for the Chase IHG One Premier. Initially applied and was requested to provide proof of address and DOB - sent in passport and Amex statement. Called recon line after a couple of days of no response and was told the documents were illegible and I also needed to provide an SSN card. Sent in my ITIN letter and called again. It took a couple of tries to get someone who would look at the documents over the phone rather than waiting for a letter. But after the 3rd attempt they came back to me confirming approval and a $12k limit!

Currently only have 2 Amex's, both via GT with 15 months credit history. Got my ITIN last August but this is my first card that I've used it on.

Excellent outcome. Sometimes you just need to keep trying until you get someone that is helpful!

With the new elevated bonus with IHG Premier Business Card, any thoughts on whether I'll have any risks in applying? I'll definitely wait till >90 days? I've held an Aspire since 2021.

Amex Gold 4/23 (I'm assuming soft pulls?)
CSP 4/23
CIP 8/23
Amex Gold Biz 12/23 (Soft pull?)
CIC 1/24

Once your second AF has posted, you can safely cancel the card and receive a full refund of the second AF within 30 days of the second AF posting.

Yes.
Thanks!
Yes - in fact you can use the US cards to pay most of the Aussie bills which have exclusions over here (like Government payments, certain utilities, car rego, ATO, etc.) and they're treated like any normal purchase.
And thanks!

Regarding the credit limit, the Surpass card I got has a fairly low credit limit. If I were to pay the ATO in batches (pay say $1000, then pay off the card via Wise) and repeat within the month...would this be possible and not have a negative affect on the account?

I don't know how you lot keep track of your logins. I only have 4 logins across 8 cards, 4 primary & 4 supps, and I often get the login details wrong. Need to be more diligent recording passwords.

Just received a more comprehensive p[re-approval email from C1 so I gave it a go. I want the Venture Card to use as my daily non-AMEX driver given the 2x spend mutiple across all categories.

This is one of the cards offered (usually, there's a very small selection but this time, it looks like all C1 cards are available).

My question: Last time I applied for a C1 card, I used my Sarasota address which rejected out of hand as an identified mail forwarder and ineligible to be used for a CC application.

I used the street address of a Hitlon in New York I'll be staying in in January 2025. Do I proceed with the application on this basis and notify the Hilton to hold onto my mail item or abandon this application to change my address from Sarasota to NY (for instance) and then make the application?

Interested in feedback on what I should do before abandoning this application.

The problem is they'll probably ask for proof of address. The pre-approval is still conditional so I doubt they'll approve it

I have to keep a list of them to tell me which is for which account when it comes to Amex! Not a list of the passwords (hopefully obviously haha) though, but I couldn't remember them without Apple's password manager.

So I was testing some manufactured spend loopholes and got hit by a cash advance fee from my IHG Chase card... how much damage might I have inflicted to my FICO? If I were thinking of applying to any new cards, should I hold off? BTW I paid it off immediately to avoid accruing interest.

Cash advance fee does not impact ur credit score but not paying ur bill does. If u want ur FIco to increase pay the card in full or less than 4% of ur credit limit before the statement is issued

Has anyone used Majority for a US transaction account - either as proof of US address or to pay off their US Amex if possible ?

They don’t appear to require a SSN to open…

I have my billing address set to Australia now after initially setting it to my 'US residential address' and I've been paying $5 US through my Capital One credit card. It was mentioned up thread a while back about removing the taxes and it seems to work still.
