Strategy to obtain US Amex

Has anyone here applied for an US HSBC account through their overseas service? If so, how long did it take to go through that process?

I submitted an application 8 business days ago, but still waiting after I provided the requested additional documents one day after the applicaiton.
How did you submit US premier account?
I've setup an AU one just 3 days ago.
HSBC chat said to login to the US premier site with my AU details, but that doesnt work so I'm stumped.
Dont have a R.M etc as yet so flying blind

I set up mine a long time ago. At the time, I called HSBC’s International Banking Centre and made an appointment to go over my application over the phone. Not sure if this has changed much since the restructure of HSBC’s US offering to Premier only.

I got the number from HSBC AU so might need to check in with your AU RM or call the local HSBC call center. The wait is reasonably short for Premier customers IME.

I opened my account a few years ago so reckon would have chosen AU account...you can easily add a USD account as long as the account name matches...once added you will see the option to transfer money in/out for both the USD & AUD account...
Hi mate, I am now considered moving a relatively large amount from UK (GBP) into my Aus bank account (AUD). Would it be possible to use this brokerage service and would it be a lot cheaper than say wise / revolut / bank?

Brains trust. I recently got my P2 ITIN - already have an US Amex card through GT. Just applied for another Amex card with ITIN and they want a copy of my visa. Has anyone had this before? I will just send through my passport, but they needed a photo ID that was issued by the US gov. Thanks in advance

not a lot cheaper but you should do a price check before transferring to see which one gives more value..
there is about 18-20GBP saving if you were to wire A$10kequivalent via IBKR.
IBKR is costing GBP5186 to A$10k vs wise is GBP5204.

Yep should be able to assuming your SSN is linked to your credit file.
It should be. I got my first AMEX GT in Dec 23 (no SSN, as I kept getting rejected while trying it as I had no credit history). I then got a capital one secure card using my SSN. Same address etc so hoping everything will be linked.

I thought I already had my fico score as I can see my scores (around 670) from both equifax and transunion on the creditkarma website. However I can't actually see my fico score through amex or on any of those sites directly... So i dont think I do have the fico score yet...

Could it hurt me in any way to try for a Amex biz this early? considering I only have 4-5 months of history...

Hi All,
I am currently looking to apply for either amex business or Chase Aeroplan card (other chase card does not have great SUB ATM). Appreciate if someone could enlighten me next steps please.

Backgroud
7 years credit history
7 cards with amex, all personal cards (including charge)
Received ITIN early this year, never used it for applying any credit card

A couple of questions please:
Would I be able to get SUB for both amex business gold and amex business platinum?
And suggestion on which website to use to check credit history? I can see my FICO on amex but it does not show credit enquries transactions.

Thank you all!

You could try but there are no tricks or tips with applying with Chase. Your main issue will be linking your ITIN with your credit history. If you've never applied for a card with it then it most likely isn't associated. Even getting Amex to add it does not mean it will be reported.

The sure way to get it linked is to apply for a card with Amex then wait a few months and apply with Chase. I have a strong feeling that you'll be immediately rejected with Chase but happy to be pleasantly surprised.

All through GT??
One through GT, then approved based on credit history and existing card holder.

Thank you, I was a bit concerning on that too.
Do you know if I would be able to get SUB for both amex business gold and amex business platinum? Not sure if they are affecting each other's SUB, like person cards.

Interesting - how have you gotten around the requirement for an SSN when using the online application form? Do you apply over the phone?
I think there were times where SSN was optional on application form, I guess phone application is also another option.
