Strategy to obtain US Amex

Hi Everyone, I wonder if anyone has used amex checking statement as proof of address for chase application please. I still getting nowhere with chase, possibly due to no eligible proof of address, i have used amex credit card statement. Now I am trying to figure out which bank can I get a checking acc open without flying to US. Any advice would be appreciated, cheers.

I used my US Amex card (with US address obviously) credit card statement as proof of address. My ITIN letter also had the same address however, so perhaps they used that as well.

Just received my ITIN and tried to open a cap1 360 checking account.

Got the following after entering my ITIN:
At this time, we can only open accounts for new customers with an ITIN in person. Find your nearest Capital One location.

Did anyone else come across this? People early in the thread opened the account pretty easily...
yep, that's my experience 4-6 months ago too. Cant go passed it. But set up a Saving account is ok with Cap1.

Amex Blue Business Plus

Here are the details of the new, better offer:

  • Earn 50,000 Membership Rewards Points after spending $5,000 on your new Blue Business Plus Card within the first 3 months.
  • No annual fee
I seen this targeted deal is available to me as a no lifetime language offer. It is appealing to me as it has no annual fee and spend requirement is reduced to 5k in 3 months. Also this wouldn't take up a 5/24 slot.

I haven't had this card before so it would be my lifetime offer until another no lifetime offer comes along.. May be interesting to other people who have already had this card in the past.

I was wondering are AMEX business cards issued electronically immediately after being approved like my last personal Amex gold was?
I am in the same situation that need to keep myself under 5/24 and want to apply for Business CC but getting rejected by Amex and Cap1 - reason: cant access my TransUnion Credit report. Could someone please share your insight regarding this matter? Is it because my Credit history is too new? Why could not they access my TransUnion Credit report when I received my free report from TransUnion in July when I had requested them for Free report - of course no record score displayed as it free report - With just details about inquiries and HP.
How long do I have to wait before applying for Business CC if I already have Amex CC and Cap1 CC with ITIN Number.

How did you get the TransUnion report with an ITIN?

Just tried opening a savings account and was asked to go into branch. This path is gone as well.

Also tried a few other banks Wells Fargo, Chase etc.. All got requested to go into branch.

Will need to wait another 3 months before I become a HSBC premier and open a US bank account that way.

t tried to get it online and couldn't and then called Transunion after Chase had told me that I had put a freeze on my credit. I think they just asked for name, dob, address and phone number. Whilst on the phone with Transunion enquiring about this matter I asked them to send me a free credit report. For additional cost I could have also received my credit score. About 10 days later I received my Transunion Credit Report to MyUS address. All details of open accounts with Amex and Chase were correct but I noticed my Tello number which I had on my Amex profile in addition to my TextNow number had not been reported. In hindsight I should have paid the $10 or so extra to receive my score also.

Yes, that was my experience too.

HSBC checking done. Now onto premier CC...

Except it isn't letting me apply from a browser, says I need to call.

Should I change my address to US address before calling?

When I call, does it make a difference if I say I am calling from the US?

Amazing, I have finally got my 1st chase card approved (ihg premier). Asked uploading docs 3 x times, and taked with ID varification team over 6 times. This morning I received approval email 😁
Thanks everyone, next step is to get card activated!
I recently opened a amex checking, and I wonder if sign up bonus and interest earned will have any tax implication on my OZ tax return please. Thanks heaps!

Yes, I used the "hack" and it worked with my ITIN. I called and spoke to a person to activate my card, don't think there's an automated way to do it. From what I read you have to activate your card prior to making an account but it may be possible to do the reverse.
Hi Phoenix,
I wonder what was the hack please, I just got approved for the 1st chase card and trying to figure out how to have it activated. I applied with ITIN, cheers.

I called to verify and then used this to create an account. I'm not sure if verification first is required.

Thanks, I wonder what is verification for? What this requested on the letter? Sorry i have not received my card yet.

Did you get approved for the Amex checking account straight away? Or they wanted a copy of your ITIN etc?

And did you have to file a tax return for the cash bonus?bank bonuses, including checking account sign-up bonuses, are considered income and are taxable as such. The IRS considers bank bonuses to be ordinary income, and they are typically taxed at the same rate as interest from savings accounts, which ranges from 10% to 37%. The amount of tax you pay depends on your overall income.

my experience, dont say you are calling from oversea. The one time I did, rep sent me straight to Fraud team for verification even after I went thru all the verification "my voice is my password" v.v.v.v. . I was quite upset and complaint to Fraud dep sent me back to Customer services team and made sure I was looked after. Save your time and say you are calling from US

Sorted the HSBC Premier Checking Account. But no option to order a debit card? Asked on chat and they said I had to phone. Same for Premier Credit Card.

Part way through the Maza ITIN setup - just need to do the final GPS spoof thing when I’m at a laptop.

Then will go down the path of Amex GT.

Question - did i even need the HSBC Checking Account? I guess its handy to have, and assume getting the HSBC Premier CC will help credit rating (and get me a SUB)

How long after I get the ITIN can I do the Amex GT - would like to get the Hilton Aspire.

I didn’t need an ITIN for Amex GT, just for subsequent Amex applications as well as for applications at other financial institutions. Have things changed more recently?

You don't need a ITIN to do the Amex GT. Only need an AU amex account as they approve based on your AU credit history.

The ITIN is only required for credit card applications with other banks after you build your credit history with amex.

As for HSBC checking its useful for future address verification (as your US address) in case they request and another option to pay your US credit cards.

Ok thanks - at the moment my US HSBC account is registered to my AU address. Should I update it to a MyUS address? Or should i wait until i can get HSBC Debit and Credit cards first?

Also to my knowledge - you did need an SSN or ITIN for Amex GT nowadays - maybe this changed again (I thought it became a requirement August last year)
