Strategy to obtain US Amex

From memory I sent an ACH from Wise to Amex checking pretty easily (initiated from Wise). Was able to hit the sub on offer at the time this way as well
Thanks, I think wise or OFX would be doable. I used OFX and seems like funds were transfer from an US based acc to amex.
I am trying to pay from oversea acc to amex checking direct.

Why not just use Wise or Revolut to do an ACH transfer. They use banks that are located in the US so its not an overseas transfer.
I have some funds in usd here, if not doable i might have to use wise/ofx.

I'm sure someone has tried this here - but do Wise/Revolut top ups with (Australian) credit cards count towards minimum spend on cards in anyone's experience? I tried it with a Virgin Money card and it did not trigger a cash advance at least.

Just received an offer of 25,000 MR to sign up "employees" on my US Business Plat card. Do these employees need to pass muster with AMEX for ID, residency, etc? Just transferring my AU MR over so don't want to put them at risk.

I tried to use an Aussie credit card to pay for a transfer to B of A to pay my US card. It posted as a cash advance but I quickly paid it in full the moment it hit. This was a few years ago and I haven't tried it since. I use my NAB debit card to top up the physical Wise ATM card and it always loads immediately.

Another bit of info for new players - From what I can see HSBC premier sucks.

I was hoping to avoid fees from Wise by using HSBC's "Free international transfers", but their exchange rates suck so bad that in my experience so far it is cheaper to use wise and cop the fee from Wise instead.

For transferring money, I used to use wise, but now I use IBRK to transfer to my amex checking account
Ibrk are transferring from local us acc to your amex checking right? Thanks

Yes indeed but the main draw of Premier is the ability to open a US checking account. Then you just use revolut or whatever to fund it.

Hoping to use the HSBC checking account as proof of details for an Amex GT.

Are statements released on eg 1st day of the month, or does it depend on when the account is opened ?

Yeah I transfer money from AU to IBRK. Convert the money there. Wait 3 biz days. Transfer to amex checking. Pay off US cards with amex checking
IBKR or IBRK please? I was thinking about this and searching for term actually. thanks for bringing it back

Hi everyone, I have opened AMEX US Gold, I don't have any bank accounts in the US other than this card, how do I pay off Amex USA? I read previous posts regarding Wise, I have Wise (Australia), but I can not find any routing number in the USD currency tab. Please help.

edit, on wise, it shows join waitlist for USD account details, so no ACH routing numbers details.

Im impressed you managed to open an Amex gold card without a checking account-how did you get an address verified?

However you got it, you might like to use that method to open a checking account. Join the wise wait list. Open a maza account or a something with your name on it that can pay off your statement. I think another user here said you need an account in your name to pay off credit cards in USA, so good luck.

Just started my Chase journey with the Ink Preferred 120k sub.

3/24 personal cards, 2 business cards all Amex. Last approved personal card was January (with ITIN) and last Business was May.

Got a 'We'll review your Chase Ink Business Preferred Card application and be in touch soon' message, calling the business recon line says they've mailed a letter asking for more information.

Human recon is closed right now so will call back later. Will update 🤞
Update:
Called up Chase and was informed to submit verification docs as expected.
Yesterday morning I submitted my passport, ITIN form, Amex Bonvoy Business statement and Amex checking statement.

Got off the phone with fraud just then and after about 15 mins they’ve informed me that they’ve submitted my application for final approval.

Seems hopeful..? Fingers crossed

I'm interested in opening some checking accounts to get some bonuses. Are all money transfers from Wise automatically ACH? Would it be the same from Revolut?

Can't comment on Revolut but when you initiate the transfer from Wise you can select transfer method when adding a recipient

Thank you. Revolut doesn't seem to give any options, but after checking the receiving accounts transaction details it seems they're all ACH by default.
