Strategy to obtain US Amex

Post was from Travel on Points FB page.

Link for direct offer on the above website, make sure you’re logged in and see if you have the targeted offer.

I have rarely gotten any AMEX targeted Welcome offers on their business cards. Seem to be in PUJ for all cards so may go ahead with the above. Also got an upgrade offer for my green card with AF coming up but it’s a measly 30k to gold. 50k to plat but haven’t held the plat before so will hold off

Ahh. Seems an ITIN is mandatory?

Unfortunately, your business has not been approved for an Amex® Business Checking account.

will do. Is there a specific # you call? I called 800 453 9719 this morning..
Was there any favourable outcome here? Applied for a CSP after my Ink application went nowhere and being asked for a W-9 form. Not sure how to progress or if this one is toast as well

couldn't and they said need the back end team to do a security/fraud review and will call me in 24-48hrs to finalise the review.
Not looking good. did not receive call back and I've been calling over the last 2 days. Today after being transferred to 4-5 different people and waiting about 40mins. They told me to visit a branch to activate the card as they couldn't verify my account on their end.

This is after various security qs with no/never answers which worked for others.

Its based on MCC code. Coles, Woolies, IGA, 7eleven, BP, Shell etc etc all track as 3x. Even grocery stores in Europe tracked as 3x for me. I like the HSBC card, its a good non-amex starter card.

Also, the $5/month credit works with AU Netflix.
Any idea what Costco tracks at? I have $3k worth of Accor gift cards to buy and figured this would be a good way to meet half of the SUB spend - would be a lovely bonus if they got 3x!

Huge news for those racking up massive MR balances.

Hawaiian now transfers to Alaska 1:1.

What's the consensus on Alaska Miles? There's a Hawaiian Airlines card offering 70,000 points for a single purchase.

Wondering if it's worth it for converting to Alaska Miles later on.

EDIT: Based on a brief look, it seems like they have less access to JAL and QF awards compared to searching on QF's portal.

Not bad for $99!

Maybe someone can comment on Barclays-issued cards.

Last year I got it approved instantly with an invitation and code from a flight attendant on AA flight. No minimum spend, fee free for first year for 60k. I kept it one year then cancelled it. I'd day grab it before it goes away.

Naah mate they couldn't verify. I applied for 2 cards over 4-5 month period and both the times verification seemed to be an issue. I've given up on Chase till I visit and open a bank account in branch.

Costco codes as Wholesale Clubs which is different from the Grocery Stores MCC. It tracks as 1x on the HSBC. I tried it a few weeks ago as I had similar thoughts as you.

Do you need to open a checking account in person or can you skip straight to opening a CC in person?

I'm reading reports on frequent miler that MR transfers (to Hawaiian?) are now getting cancelled. Not sure if true.

Edit: it might have just been a bug.
