Strategy to obtain US Amex

If I were in your situation, given your recent account closures, I would cool it on Chase for at least 90 days. But there's no hard and fast rules. Really a question of risk tolerance. I know someone who opened a new card after getting their shutdown reversed and has been going okay, albeit at a slow spending pace.

If you are primarily interested in a 0% APR, consider an Amex BBP.
I got a message from Amex that the CL on my everyday will be reduced by $1000 as I have not used it for more then 12 months , too many enquiries in 12 months , FICO score dropped to 712 and high balance to limits on some accounts .is that normal ?

At least you know what your FICO score is now!

I don't have personal experience, but I have definitely seen others saying that in the US your CL will get reduced if you don't use your card.

Most credit providers do periodic soft pulls to make sure you aren't engaging in behaviour that is deemed suspicious (eg racking up lots of inquiries or new lines of credit). I wouldn't worry too much about it though. Good to use a card once every 12 months to keep it alive.

Yes, certainly not worth throwing the cards into the sock drawer. At least put some small amounts on.

DP for using the $20 a month flexible business credit on the Amex Biz Gold card - I was able to use it at Staples by purchasing an Airbnb gift card online.

I read up a bit here and on Reddit / Flyertalk and found that they often place the order on hold to prevent fraud and sometimes can't verify you online so they ask you to come into the store to purchase the gift card.

I created an account on Staples using a VPN (US location) and entered my US number and address, and a few days later I logged in and purchased a $25 Airbnb gift card without a VPN (thought I'd do it this way so if they asked me to go into a store I would say I'm travelling overseas and want to use my Amex monthly credit).

I got the "your order is on hold" email the next day and in the email it said they needed more information to process my order and to call them, so I called up expecting a lot of verification questions but they just asked for my name and email address and I was then told it was approved and I should receive the voucher via email soon - it arrived about an hour later!

Statement credit of $20 posted. Hopefully the order next month with Staples just goes through now that I'm "verified", I will provide an update when I do it next month.

Might be just luck that I managed to get it working this way or if the above trick will actually work for most but thought I'd share anyway.

I applied for a Barclays Hawaiian card (70k miles) and they have asked me to fax Bank statement and Passport. Anyone use any online service that is reliable to fax?

Barclays now accepts ITIN which is how I was able to apply

So my TextNow account that I’ve been using got disabled, possibly for using a VPN? Never been an issue before as I would use TextNow to make calls on VPN as I found they worked better than without VPN

What are the best alternatives and I wonder if I can keep my number?

Anyone has this happen to them?

Another vote for Tello. Has worked fine for verifixation codes for Amex and HSBC and have used 2-300 mins of calls via wifi calling from Aus to US banks

Did you pay for the number lock? I've been using mine without trouble for a long time now.

Yes. Paid for it back in 2021.. 4th renewal coming up.. not sure what triggered it. Was the best option for only $7.99 a year.
Very disappointing news if they're coming for people using the service overseas. Maybe they've decided we're unprofitable as we don't get served any ads — when you use the service within the US, the app is bombarded with ads.

Is it easy to get verified ? Will the card be sent to a forwarding address ?
