Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

October 2013 | June 2014| J | SYD-JNB-SYD | 336,000 (2 pax)| Co-pay | $50 | Max points cost (if known - no idea) | 320 SCs (each)| $2018.30 incl. credit card charge

My first post :)

I dealt with Janine who initially told me I had to make my booking online, then told me that I couldn't book an ASA in U class. When I gave her the Q card reference detail she said "we can't be expected to remember all of these". Ummmm.. ok.

Took about half an hour, but it got done.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Oct 13 | Nov 13 | J | SYD xBNE TSV xBNE SYD | 42,000 | $353 | $7 | 86000 | 200 | $157*

Excellent CSA, took about 10 minutes.

This should be 48,000 shouldnt it?

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Oct 13 / Aug 14 / J / DFW-SYD / 112,000 / 188,000 / 200 SC / $674 USD incl CC charge

Took about 20 minutes and CSA hadn't done one of these before, but was very helpful and we got there in the end.

Unfortunately the classic award I had found to book as as FASA outbound to LAX disappeared while we did the booking, so despite the success DFW - SYD I'm a bit stuck!

Oct 13|Dec 13| J | MEL-BRIS-CNS return |144000 points (2 PAX) 240 sc |$1077.00 co payment

CSR Gabby was excellent - handled quickly and efficiently but just out of interest booked this 28/10/2013 - CC charge for co payment $1077.00 is sitting twice on my CC - called Qantas and they advise that the 2nd amount of $1077 is not charged and drops off in 3-5 days - this has happened to me once before, anyone know why ?

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Nov 13 /Oct 14/ SYD-HKG-SYD/ J /120000pts, all up co pay was $639 for the return trip
CSR was pleasant but had to keep putting me on hold as she had never done one before, took about 20mins excluding the initial hold time for call to be answered.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Date | Cabin | Route | Points | Co-pay | credit-card? | Max points cost (if known) | SCs earned | Classic co-pay*
Nov 13 | Feb 14 | J | MEL BNE | 30000 | $91.40 | $zero | 39339 | 60 | 24000pts+tax (unknown)*

Also :

Offered 24000+$143 or up to 39339 no copay for ASA

Classic @ 24000 + tax (didnt ask how much).

Operator Jamie quickly worked out what i wanted to do and commented "these are good value" and understood the benefits in flexibility and SCs.

On and off phone in under 5 mins.

Would still have preferred to do online but with an operator who know how it worked - very easy.

Nov 13|Dec 13| J | SYD-xBNE-TSV return |48000 points | 200sc |$349.16co payment

Vicki was very helpful, and even though it took a long time, 30 or so minutes, that was largely caused by looking at quite a few options.

A little confusion at the start ("you should book ASAa online") after I explained I wanted to book at classic rates she mentioned marginal and it was all plain sailing from there on.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

The credit card fee does apply. The telephone booking fee does not.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

I have formatted the data into a Google Docs spreadsheet up to this post using the format:

Month booked | Month travelled | Cabin | Route | Points cost | Co-pay* | Classic co-pay~ | Max points cost (if known) | SCs earned

* Indicate if CC fee included
~ If known

Please PM me any suggestions you have to improve it^, to save this thread becoming distracted from its intended purpose.

This is the link to the Google Docs spreadsheet
which is able to be viewed by all (but not edited).

No other information is to be posted, please use the other threads for this, please just keep this thread to factual information only

Any discussion about ASAs can occur here:

And here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....rogram/has-anyone-had-success-call-51720.html

^ I have added month booked / month travelled after gizzard's suggestion.
Buzzard suggested a formula column to show relative value of the runs. As there are a number of ways of valuing SC vs pts vs $ I have chosen to just keep it to the info posted. Anyone is welcome to copy the data and apply whatever formula they choose to show their own relative value.

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Why is everyone paying the CC fee? It's not suppose to apply!?

Why wouldnt it apply? It applied for online bookings

Was also quoted other points/fees: $492 co-payment = 147,000 per person, $503 co pay = 146,000 pp, $514 co pay = 145,000 pp.

Brilliant service from the CSE ... knew exactly what I was looking for, only issue - again QF IT systems - why can't they pick up the companion's details just from their FF number? System won't allow it and it gets a bit of a circus when the name isn't straightforward.

QF - help your staff do their job as efficiently as possible!!

BD

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide

Nov 13 | Jul 14 | J | SYD > JNB | 84000 | $485 + CC fee | 160SC

This was for two people. Took a little bit of time to work through the steps on the phone and the agent basically tried to talk me out of doing this and book a classic award. Even went so far as to say that "I have made a note in the booking saying that I didn't recommend this. If it goes wrong Qantas will take this into consideration".

Anyway, did look at the classic taxes and there were about $120 less.
