Successful QF 'Bid Now Upgrades' data thread

I have updated post 1 with a link to the form.

Be gentle! :)

Here is the link as well: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1oLausr4uZj_tXkp0UJASXq5W9Z0Yj0-Jn8aEIyZye1c/viewform?usp=send_form

Looks good JessicaTam... may I make a couple of suggestions?

Under "was your bid successful", is it possible to have a "Not yet...." status? I guess it depends when people populate the form: obviously they won't know the outcome until after the flight.

For the $'s max and min, you really need to indicate if these are the $'s in relation to the Pts Min or Pts Max factor, or add an additional set of $'s max and min for the Pts Max value. (Does this make sense?)

E.g. for my Bid
Pts Min was 3000, with $s ranging from $150 to $390
and
Ptx Max was 14,7000 with $s ranging from $55 to $295.

So there's 6 data points, but in the form there's only 4 fields for some of these values.

(I'm not precious about this if you leave it as is... it still provides some good data. People might find it a bit tedious to populate so many fields. I just like to be thorough when it comes to data.)

Is anyone able to confirm if J status credits will be awarded on successful bid upgrades? Sorry if this has already been answered.

BA had quite a following with the POUG upgrades, primarily because of the awarding of upgraded tier points in the BAEC program (but nothing for partners mostly). The prices seem to have recently raised to almost the fare difference level and previous takers are now declining the offers.

Without the enhanced SCs, I see very few takers for the QF offers, unless the prices are drastically reduced.

Happy wandering

Fred

Thanks for the suggestions kevrosmith. I am a big fan of KISS, so may leave it as it is at the moment. As you say, if it becomes too onerous we may get no data instead of some.

No one won yet?

Maybe everyone is still doing the Classic Upgrade awards so doesn't need to pay cash as well. I think maybe the people it's targeted at don't yet read AFF and the many and varied ways to acquire the necessary points thus avoiding the cash outlay..

i'm with you Fred.

What sort of email are people receiving?

"Upgrade to Business on your next flight"?

I have been offered chance to upgrade BNE-SYD for 10,000 points which is the classic upgrade request? No option to put in a bid unless I need to go further into the request.

My emails have the subject line "Make an offer to upgrade on your flight to Brisbane"

and look like this:

Surely as WP you could request an upgrade at MMB and should be able to find out straight away or call the Plat Line to get one released as opposed to going into a bidding war. One would expect that if they are inviting bid requests there are plenty of free seats up front.

Yes, I can still do that too. I guess they are just trying to encourage me to spend more money or use my points in a different way.

I notice there are no entries on the spreadsheet. Has anyone filled out the form? If so, I will have to investigate why the sheet hasn't been populated.
