Successful QF 'Bid Now Upgrades' data thread

I got an email, and put the details in the form. Works for me!

I wasn't going to upgrade the sector, given I am driving home :)

However in the interest of science I put in a classic upgrade request after playing with the 'bid now' dials for a while. Bingo! I am riding up the front on the way home.

Cheers skip.

The Key question is was that due to Classic request or Bid Now?

Driving home form Kabul AF would be quite scenic.

Just to clarify I didn't proceed with bid but ordered a classic upgrade instead. Paying $165 to save 7,000 points, the midrange bid, struck me as poor value indeed.

OT Driving home from KBL not particularly scenic, its like driving away from any third world airport. However flying in to KBL is spectacular, over the Hindu Kush, then spiral down to the airport. On a clear day you get a great view of the Gorge that the Kabul-Jalalabad Road passes through
Kabul-Jalalabad Highway

Just received a Bid offer for CNS-SYD. 5K pts to 40K pts range. Form data submitted. Dollars for 5K pts range entered. Interestingly, at 40K pts, the dollars were $5 to $45.

What was the dollars at 5K Points? and how does this compare to a classic upgrade on that route?

Can't Mrs Skip do the driving? Funnily enough it's what my Dad refers to as the 'Pineapple Run'! :p

Alas, solo traveller. Mrs Pineapple is usually pretty obliging on this sort of stuff :)

A friend of mine is working in KBL at the moment as well.

I am flying out on leave tomorrow ... Insh'allah:):):):)

Don't think we need the points balance data. Didn't Qantas announce offers would only be sent to pax without sufficient points for a classic points upgrade?

Well if they did, the system shouldn't be trusted - but probably because of their silly change to V class.

1 Week out have received an offer for a BNE-MEL, purchased as V before 18 Feb (so flex) for 2 pax. Have enough points for the upgrade from flex but not from red-e which the system probably wrongly thinks it is.

Points and dollars are exactly the same as previously reported for the V CNS-BNE by kevrosmith.

The interesting thing is the availability on the flight, being Golden Triangle on a Friday afternoon - EF is showing J3 D2 I0 U0 - so quite full in J - yet the offer has been generated for 2 Pax. I am thinking very low chance of getting an upgrade in lounge, or by request for U, and probably not much better for the bid.

As a matter of interest, and to see what happens, I have made a bid. Will fill in the form when I know the result. May even ring up to lodge the classic upgrade request just to see what happens.

I have been offered a chance of an upgrade bid for flight next Friday BNE-SYD. Cheap fare bucket.

The offer is 3,000 QFF points + $175. Can increase the points to 9,800 QFF points and the cash component only reduces to $130 which values the QFF at 0.7c each.

I think they consider that a fair/moderate bid. Ridiculous as I can upgrade for 10,000 QFF points and no cash component.

And there in lays the trap for the uneducated average punter. Save 200 points at the cost of $130.00. Simpler and Fairer LOL

Has anyone had an upgrade offer on a red-e-deal/sale international fare that has been accepted? Particularly interested in DXB or LHR.

I suspect the mug punters will not think twice about this. But then they may not also be great accumulators of QFF points to begin with. So it won't happen to them too often

Received my first offer today, but wont be making one myself. Entered my details to the form, but I hardly need to upgrade to breeze through security at OOL, or access a lounge! :p
