No R to SIN?
nope. 777. However we are now wait listed on the later flight, which is the A380. We weren't able to wait list it Initially, but a nice chap at SQ seemed able to do so on our behalf once we confirmed our first wait list....fingers crossed

Before I had an inkling of what was going on I mistakenly cancelled a WL on a later flt SYD - SIN. Is the only way to put in a WL without the points ... pleading on the phone, anything worth a try?

Can someone confirm this; the only day flight ex-SIN to Europe is to LHR? All other european destinations have a midnight'ish departure?
Looking to book Suites but prefer to slum it in business if its just an overnight flight.

Hello there, does anyone know which 777 fights from Singapore to Melbourne have the new First class? I originally booked SQ227 thinking it was the new one but the Singapore agent said it is SQ237 so moved me to that. Can anyone confirm this please? I am wait listed for Suites to Sydney but it doesn't look likely.... Will have to put up with new First instead :) :)

Thank you! Appreciate the link.

Edit: SQ237 is showing up with "Refitted" on its seat map even though it is a 777-300 not 777-300ER. Does anyone know please? Sorry to be a pest.

237 is indeed a 777-300 refit so will have old first not new but when are you flying as things change?

Hi Danger UXB, I am flying in early November. They moved me from SQ227 as they told me that was the old First and SQ237 was the new...It didn't sound right though. I will move back to SQ227.

Am I being dumb? Surely you would want R on an overnight flight to make the most of those lovely beds?

No you're not. Everyone is different and have different preferences. As much as I really enjoy the double beds I dislike midnight departures as it spoils my routine. I like to get on board, have a drink, enjoy my meal and watch a movie before going to sleep. With a midnight departure it's a shock to my system when eating around 1 am singapore time or like 4 am sydney time. I like early evening or early morning flights when in F/R. Besides there's flat beds in business too but not as intimate as R.

Only suites seating is on SQ 308 to LHR departing around 9am. There are two 77W departures around 1pm, SQ 318 to LHR and SQ 326 to FRA.

Flts to Europe ex SIN are not just o/n flts unless you intend to hibernate / ~13 hrs or so regardless of what time dep most people will sleep maybe half distance which still gives you ~half flt to enjoy the R, F or J experience. IMHO more important is suitability of arrival time - I like early morn arrival as you can plan a day around that - but we are all diff so simply go with what suits you.

Some people can sleep in a J bed perfectly adequately and would rather maximise that R spend on something you cant do at home (sleep), i.e. enjoys the full R experience. I like sleeping too but value the full experience rather more than just a good nights sleep.

I'd also prefer non-midnight departure as you are almost 'forced' to yield to bodily demands for sleep whereas a late morning / early afternoon departure allows you to sample everything a suite can offer including a restful 6-7 hours sleep in between takeoff and landing.

Win Win outcome really

Does anyone have any real world experience with how long it takes to receive the refund of taxes from an award flight?

The agent on the phone said up to 4 weeks for the points and taxes to be returned but I was wondering if this is a case of under promise over deliver or if it really does take that long. The points are already in my account.

The money is not an issue it is more just managing the particular card used to book which is to receive the refund.

No not the case at all - points can return in 24hrs or up to a week or so - $$s can refund in a week or so or maybe 2 to 3 weeks - I have never had to wait a month

Definitely less than 4 weeks, from memory less than 2 in fact.
