I would not wait - call again and clarify exactly what they can see - ask if you can email them a screen shot of what you can see - depends how badly you want it though - this kind of thing I am like a dog with a bone and just won't let it go til all possibilities exhausted.

Well, basically got told to stop calling – there's nothing they can do.

Agent acknowledged that it's weird for the availability to be different, but that there's nothing more she can do beyond the waitlist.

She did say she thinks I'll have no problem getting it confirmed though, which I thought was an interesting comment to make.

Anyway, thanks for your words of encouragement Cruiser!

Ok so just a data point - Couldn't find the settings digomi mentioned to set the account preferences so rang Citibank who said you can't xfer to additional card holder account and additional card holder can't log into the transfer points page to transfer to their account.

The funny man then said that KF should be able to do a points transfer between KF accounts - LOL! Anyway rang KF and they smiled and said errrr No we can't do that. Anyway lots of hassle to save an additional 5K in points so have just done the VF transfer and will stick to my old option. Thanks for all the help everyone. Much appreciated.

Thanks Cruiser - Well I'm just a grade A moron.

In my excitement I made the wife xfer her points from Velocity to KF and she's about 9K short of a o/w F redemption. Is there a way that we can pool points on KF to book 2 x F seats o/w? I know that I can just pay the top up but just wanted to check there wasn't another option available. I have the points (or more to the point can xfer citibank to KF)

What I should have done was got her to xfer the points to my velocity account and then transferred that to my KF. Such an idiot :/

I believe if you apply for a supplementary card for her and then add her KF freq. flyer number to the citibank account you should be able to transfer points to her account.

My wife is the primary cardholder and I am a supp card holder and transferred all her points into my KF account. This was done mid last year so my memory might be a bit shonky.

My pleasure - waitlists do confirm - I had a waitlisted flt for Nov 8 MEL-SIN-PEK confirm on Monday - only problem is the one I really wanted is still not confirmed - if it does i'll just substitute the booking - good luck I hope it all works out.

I've been doing some Googling on the issue and it seems I'm far from alone.

A commenter on a OMAAT story says this which is interesting:

It seems this is a common technological issue with airlines that allow waitlisting for awards. I’ve had the same experience when waitlisting to use Asiamiles with Cathay Pacific, and there are several threads on the CX flyertalk forum about how these waitlists don’t clear in real time. It seems the problem is waitlists are stored in a master list that is separate from the award reservations. I’m only guessing but this might be partly because for CX at least (and I think SQ as well), there are several different waitlists depending on what (if any) elite status you hold. So when another award seat is released into the inventory by revenue control, the reservations computer doesn’t immediately know there is someone waitlisting for it. That only happens the next time the system does a periodic sweep, and compares its master list of waitlisted passengers against available seats. And, of course, if someone sees the seat and grabs it before that sweep, it’ll be gone before the system knows to allocate it to the waitlisted passenger. In short, there’s no harm waitlisting for an award seat where that option exists. But don’t rely on it. You need to keep checking for availability yourself (does Awardnexus do automated checks for SQ?)

So I must have to wait for this 'manual sweep' to happen, hopefully before someone else grabs the seat.

mrsmart let me preface this response with 'I possess ZERO technical knowledge on this very matter' - but I do think some people have very fertile imaginations.

YES status pax will get priority - would anybody expect anything different.

TBMK only one waitlist and KF reps can see it - many times I have been told my position in queue.

Over last 10 years I have had dozens and dozens of waitlists clear in F and J - NEVER have I seen availability on a sector when I had a waitlist in place - on this point I call bunkum

I'm with CE, the Kris flyer waitlist is a fickle beast. Sometimes mine come thru and sometimes they don't. There is no rhyme or reason...it just is . If there was a magic formula some boffin with far too much time on their hands would have algorithm-ed it by now . Sometimes I have not been notified but the seat is visible on the website and sometimes the reverse, the seat is not visible but I receive notification to confirm....Your guess is as good as mine

Well then, I guess I was wrong.

Just had a look now at the citirewards site, and tried logging into citibank card account summary as primary and secondary cardholder and clicked rewards to connect to citirewards, and it shows up as primary cardholder both times. No option to add secondary cardholders details.

It wasn't like this a year ago. I remember booking SQ flights under my KF account and as I am the secondary cardholder on the Citi card, I managed to transfer my wifes points over into my KF account. They must have changed it with the recent update in the website. I had a Platinum card back then though, and have a Signature card now. Maybe you could only do it under platinum card?

Ok, had a third look.

You'll need to sign in as primary card holder. Click the "Rewards" tab, then "Rewards Profile" and this will give you options to "yes" or "no" allow supplementary cardholder to redeem points.

I selected yes for myself (secondary) and then logged in under my account. However, I still can't go from my citibank account to the citirewards under my name. Keeps bringing me to the primary cardholders citirewards page. Hence can't/won't let me transfer to anyone else but the primary. There must be a way, since there's the option to allow secondary cardholder to redeem points.

Thanks Cruiser & Danger. I do read these things with a grain of salt but I guess everyone's looking for answers that don't exist.

Will play the waiting game like everyone else. Thanks again for your insights.

Success!

I spoke to both Aloycius and Wyn over the past few hours and between them managed to re-ticket the two legs separately. In hindsight, surely that could have been done all along?

My VFF account is empty yet again. I've spent well over $500 in taxes/fees/currency conversions. But I couldn't be happier.

I now have IST-SIN in J, and SIN-MEL in F. It's my first time in F too. So excited.

Awaiting tickets to be sent through.

Thanks again Cruiser and Danger for all your wisdom.

great news. What was the damage in points ? Same as a F saver all the way or did you have to purchase as 2 seperate legs one J and one F? I'm very happy that persistence has paid off. I must say I don't have your persistence I would have just seperated the legs one J and one F and been happy even though the points cost is higher. I have learned from your tale to keep phoning and eventually you will find an operator who can push the right buttons :)

Total came to 102,000 miles (transferred over 137,700 VFF points).

IST-SIN: 38,250
SIN-MEL: 63,750

Slightly lower than doing it as an F award all the way through, which is 105,000.

The taxes definitely add up doing it as two bookings though. Trying not to look at CC.

My only concern now is that they're on separate PNRs. I kind of thought they'd be able to merge them into one but apparently not.

So I'm just a little excited :) Booked me and the SWMBO on suites for late June next year!

ZRH - SIN Suites
SIN to MEL F

I'm so stoked about this as this has been a bucket list item for a number of years now. Even with all the stuff ups I made we managed to get enough points into KF to make the redemption.

Thanks to all on this forum but special mention to Cruiser, cove and Danger for their fantastic insight and information. Now to ask work for 4 weeks leave :P

Been trying to piece together R flights for travels in July 2016 for preferably SYD-JFK but willing to accept either LAX/SFO as well but no luck :(

NDiddy SWMBO will be so excited when they hand her her TPR Invitation at check in at ZHR - but don't get too excited about Senator Lounge in ZRH - its very very ordinary - they will not permit you into LX F unfortunately - and it amazes what a grumpy bunch of women on entry desk - so so different to Senator Lounge in FRA.

Agreed CE - SWMBO is very stressed at the moment with some major exams scheduled for Feb and May so the timing of Suites is perfect :)

I wasn't expecting LH F (although I was going to ask but I try and avoid grumpy people in general). Disappointed that Senator is not great but was pinning my expectations all on TPR :)

Seems like it's booking season (...wabbit season...) :)

Just booked myself and SWMBO in Suites SYD-SIN-NRT for October next year. Absolutely wrapt! Been planning this for 18 months....now comes the 12 month wait.....

Called the hotline in Sydney to book as we added a 3 day stopover in Singapore. 80,750 KF points +SGD$535 in taxes/fees per ticket. Couldn't be happier.

If anyone has any handy hints to pass on, please let us know. We won't be sitting in 3C/D as i like the window seat, so to be nice, we'll sit in tandem so others can utilize them. Currently have 3A and 4A reserved. Figured just in case the bassinet's get used.

Reg.
