No I just wave BP as I walk past and say is OK I know my way in - sometimes they will still try to escort and I say really no need to - I have been into TPR 100 times - go back to your desk and assist somebody who may not be so familiar.

Hmm OK, probably not the most useful data point then :-)

Just out of interest - in say last 3 years - how often have R or F pax received TPR Invite Cards at check-in? I would say with 20 or 30 R and same number F sectors I would have received invite Cards less than 50% time. But recently they are definitely more diligent - certainly a directive from above.

I reckon I've received an invite once out of four SQ F/R itineraries, and that was in SYD. Didn't get one ex-MEL three weeks ago.

2 other pms from members who did not know TPR access available to F pax - keep the information flowing please people - it helps us all.

Well there you go - I thought it was common knowledge, but I guess not!

Re: Changi Lounge Access Summary

Flew 218 MEL-SIN 01:05 on 27th - no TPR Invite - would not know last time I received one ex MEL.

Last 2 F deps out of PEK I have received TPR Invite Cards - maybe 10 previous F deps and never received one - go figure.

So if you don't receive one without prompting them, do you then ask them for it?

Well YES and NO. Personally I never do now - I fully understand access to TPR so not an issue to me. First timers I cannot recommend strongly enough to ask for one if not presented - they are a great souvenir for those that might only travel once or twice in R of F - others may just not feel comfortable heading to TPR without Invite Card and if not escorted on arrival - so YES - if you travelling in Suites or F and TPR Invite not handed to you at check-in then I strongly urge pax to just ask for one.

Re: Changi Lounge Access Summary

Mrscove's first visit to TPR lasted about 10 minutes so she wanted to go back for more even though she doesn't drink alcohol.
Now she is a regular even though the next flight back to Perth can only be in J we both flash our Suites used ticket from London or Los Angeles/Narita and we get the escort.

That's something new.

Were they mistaken ?

Or it is an unwritten benefit ?

Likely the latter as they always scrutinise, not just looking casually, at my ticket.

Maybe Cove looks the part, Cary Grant's suave Hollywood charm ???

Re: Changi Lounge Access Summary

First time on SQ Suite Class from SIN > MEL in a couple of weeks. My Dads first time flying anything above economy, so I think he is going to lose it!

Quick question, as I won't need to hold my dad's hand during the flight, do people recommend us taking the the middle seats, so we are both in the same "Suite" I suppose, or should we both go for window seats and have each our own smaller suites?

Cheers

Wow your Dad will surely love it that's for sure!

Well if you want to talk to your Dad and be more social, then grab the middle seats, for sure!

If you both want your own space then the window seats are the way to go!

As it's a night flight, remember that the middle seats do fold out into a double bed which may be a bit romantic ;) But I am pretty sure there is a big divider than can be raised to separate the two seats, I just haven't seen it in use on my limited flights in Suites!

Re: Changi Lounge Access Summary

When you live in Melbourne and Sydney you get that extra Suites opportunity but I still haven't booked any to depart from there.
I always take the opportunity to chat with the flight attendants on the longhauls. I find them easy to talk to as they have been hand picked for their roles.
Generally we take the window seats.
In the next few weeks I have 3 newbies going Suites from my family. Two sons and an older brother should find it interesting with one going to London and Paris and two going to Los Angeles.

Just bagged another one - need to get back from PVG in coupla weeks - had 3 Suite Savers SIN-MEL waitlisted but really only 1 date suits me - quick call to KF 3C secured - damn shame it's an overnight flt.

Actually flying MU J to PVG - now won't this be an interesting comparison? MU J MEL-PVG 90K pts / SQ Suite PVG-MEL 78K pts - yeah that sound about right for the quality comparison huh guys?

Are you implying here that the KF call centre manually released a seat / ticketed one of your waitlists ?

Thanks for confirming... I think I need to start calling KF more often. Is this something you're normally able to achieve easily?
No certainly not easily - this course of action requires significant amounts of wit and charm - qualities possessed by a rare few here on AFF.

Have done this too. Only tried once and the gentlemen on the phone just confirmed it as a part of a mixed class booking.

Didn't take much work on my end, if any.
