I don't think walking there will be the same as arriving in a car. But do you want to lug your luggage around all day? Why not fly to SIN the day before and spend a night?

Yeah that's an option for sure.

Anyone know if it's possible to check in bags early, then come back to 'check in' at First Class at normal time?

If you have BP already then you can rock up to the first class checkin area and go through the immigration and security screening for first passengers. Nice and quick. Then off to the TPR for some of those famous mini burgers and lobster :)

I know it's probably been asked and answered many times before, but what food/dishes do people recommended choosing at TPR during dinner service?

I have only had one TPR breakfast service many many many years ago so that is such an ancient experience now.

I quite like the satays and the dim sum if that is your thing. The gentleman usually has the mini burger.

the serves are small enough to have multiple dishes! i don't mind a pick of the bain marie for a curry dish too.

I had this mind, but not sure its going to works or not. I had infant which about to turn 2 years old ( require full redemption point for 1 seat ).

Instead of booking 3 seat F class. Can I book 2 seat F ( wife and infant ), and pay cash for 1 economy ? on a plane, I join my wife at F ?

Heard varying reports of sometimes being allowed sometimes not... I have been told on board that if I have friends in J they can come up, but others have found SQ politely said no to them. Probably case of crew on the day.

bbqwer are you thinking move yourself up to F and take infants seat and he sit with you? If you thinking this it will not work - crew do not mind a brief visit but you cannot 'upgrade' yourself.

SQ802 SIN-PEK yesterday was original Suites fit out - last month I flew SQ802 SIN-PEK in updated Suites - make no mistake - the seat in original fit out is DEFINITELY softer and more comfortable to sit in than updated seat - IMHO.

I find this mind boggling - update / renew to go backwards? Riddle me that one Batman!

In the tech industry we say If it aint broken, don't fix it.

One has to wonder what kind of trialling of the seat SQ did with their high flyers. Maybe all the caviare, Krug, mini burgers and lobster tail dull the posterior from signalling discomfort :)

leather softening with age? the old fitout would be starting to push 10 years?

Yes leather does soften with age but I do not believe this is so in this case - the original leather from earliest days always felt softer than latest update - FWIW IFS on flt with new product told me seats were not replaced just recovered and indeed some trimming of internal squabs was required - but don't just take my word for it pls try both and report back.

Advice please. I had to cancel a recent long awaited trip to New York with upgrade BNE-LAX (J) for MrsJohnno and myself. The points were given back and the monies put into travelbank. Next year we want to go to New York and from there to Europe.
Because of travelbank we are tied to Virgin for the New York leg (plus some travel in the US) however I have always wanted to use Singapore suites. What I want is to go JFK to AKL with a stopover in FRA for 4 weeks. How is the best way of achieving this as it appears you cannot book the stopover online?. I have enough Velocity points to transfer over to Singapore to cover the flights but of course would like the 15% online saving. Thanks in advance to those Singapore aficionados.

Just booked 2x SYD-SIN, SIN-NRT-LAX A380 suites all the way. Probably a poor use of so many miles, but it ticks off a 'Top 5 travel wishlist for me

Do you mind sharing how much points + fees you spent per person?

Cheers

119K each and ~$690 in surcharges. Yes probably poor value compared with oneworld redemptions in F, but had some krisflyer miles to burn......

Will I be seeing you on board? I am flying SYD-SIN-NRT 14/7 and NRT-LAX on 19/7

Gday

The SYD-SIN-NRT-LAX trip looks like a great trip. Just a quick one for the Krisflyer experts- If you ring up on the phone to book it and want to do a stopover can you choose both SIN and NRT or is it a maximum of only one stopover per one way trip at $100 per person?

Thanks,

Pele.
