... Was sure it was over and done with when Seattle reached the 1 yard line, but yes while a running play would almost of certainly gotten in with two plays (probably not time for 3) that pass play would often have worked, would quite often have been broken up, and almost never intercepted, that interception was just amazing....

If it had been caught the place would go insane, if it was batted down or dropped they get to do a running play next, unfortunately for Seattle the least likely result happened...
Had another look at the last few minutes this evening. Wild!

The story was looking to be one of another freakish catch to help deliver a Pats loss - but not to be this time.

New England lined up with only four defensive linemen with linebacker Hightower five yards off the line. Why he was so far off the line when Seattle needed to gain just one yard I can't say. But his position meant that if the 'hawks had just run up the middle, at the point of attack there would have been five blockers and a power back versus four defenders.

As for the pass play - they basically told the Pats what they were up to.

No Play fake - Seattle made no attempt to attract the defense toward Lynch. The guy who intercepted could jump the route because he could tell from the snap the down was a pass. Two wide receivers were "stacked" to the right. On a quick combo move as was being telegraphed, the ball goes to the second WR who cuts beneath the first WR, who sets a pick (shepherd). With no play fake and a WR being the second guy in a combo, the Pats could easily see the call was a quick slant -- so the route was jumped and the game won.
