SYD to JFK in J with CX - flight report

Presuming *O, a CX lounge or two should sort that out ...

To be honest all I want to do is sleep. Letting down the team I know.

Will have a shower and see how I'm feeling. Flight leaves just before midnight so I may just go straight to sleep on the plane.

Actually NYC weather wasn't too bad. One day was 15. Most days around 8. Cold over night but warm when the sun was out. Other than new years eve, only struck one rainy day.

Made it to Hong Kong. Now sober. About 4 hrs until I board for SYD. Such a long flight!

Nope. Nearly 17 hrs by the time we landed.

I wouldn't take this flight in economy.

I've done CX J ORD-HKG which is scheduled for about the same duration as JFK-HKG and quite enjoyed it.

LAX-DOH is a bit longer again, and is the longest flight I've done, but in QR QSuites it is definitely a pleasurable doddle .

I did ORD to HKG twice in 2017 in J. It felt a lot shorter.

Having recently booked ORD-HKG-SYD it's reassuring to hear that the long leg doesn't feel so long. The F experience should make it bearable.

Even CX's new A350's J made my EWR->HKG (a whole 10min longer @ 16hrs!) flight extremely comfortable. 'Twas also the only time I recall I managed to get a full solid 9hrs of sleep. Amazing.

I find sleeping difficult, even in premium cabins, but figure if I'm going to be awake I might as well be awake in comfort.

Not for me.

State governments have been covering pretty much everything that you might see as a tourist. But this interim arrangement was just ending as I was leaving the US. For example, the museums in DC had been kept open, but that was ending.

I guess some may not know that federal government shut downs are not uncommon in the US (Government shutdowns in the United States - Wikipedia) and this recent Trump led one is certainly not unique. In short, various coping methods are in place.

Australia as the nanny state is very irksome on these types of methods of treating adults as children.

I’ve done these flights a few times but now I’m a bit nervous about my J CX to JFK flights in their spring.

In the last 10 days I flew CX Business HKG to JFK and CX First from BOS to HKG.

My experience may have been enhanced by being Emerald (access to the min cabin) First lounges at HKG, only PAX in First on the return but I enjoyed the travel.
