Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Jousams, the leaf style roof area above the main part of the current Lounge is "The Club" VIP only - it has been open for a couple of months.
The photo above is next to this space, more above the computer area and greeting area, which I assume will become the upstairs (potentially Biz/Plat lounge)

there appears to be 3 rooms upstairs, the club, the lounge being fitted out now and a small room in-between the two. I thought both lounges already had the leaf pattern. But i must be mistaken.

Does anyone have any news on the opening?
I have a few SYD flights in mid December, fingers crossed it will be open.

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Anyone heard anything about an opening late this coming week?

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

No but I'll be there on Tuesday briefly.

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

...and I'll be there Thursday morning, so fingers crossed too.

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

JB said it would be open before christmas,
going on timelines given for previous lounges,
it will open about March.
;)

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

I'll do Friday morning and Sunday evening, simonsyd, we can get other AFF'ers to plug the reporting gaps.

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Sorry but my flight was late yesterday and I had to rush through the terminal, didn't get a chance to see the lounge. Flying MEL-OOL today so if my plane diverts to SYD I'll have a squiz ;)

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Was there today,
Opening this week is unlikely as they are only just putting the roof on.

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

They are currently working 24/7 on the terminal to do the "dressing up" such as fittings. Ground crew at SYD are still saying opening is in the next 10 days!!!

Interestingly the MEL VA freight dept have just moved out of their facility to make way for the construction company that is doing the redevelopments of the VA Foxtrot fingerway (gates 11-15). So the word is that the redevelopment works will start in the new year, additional aerobridge gates specifically set up for A330 ops.

Toll Dnata moved out nearly 4 months ago from their freight shed.... Initially they will be actually creating stand off bays at the end of the Foxtrot pier for aircraft parking, then they will commence work on the pier. It is unknown as to how they are going to build around T4 though...

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

I thought my travel was over for the year but as it turns out i've been summoned to Sydney on Friday and returning on Saturday. With any luck the reno's may be finished by then. Any updates?

Re: Sydney VA Domestic Lounge Pictures

Yes, AusBT has also been reporting it would open 'this month', even as late as yesterday on Sky TV's business travel show, and 'this month' really has to mean "in the next 7 days" because surely they would not open it on a public holiday like Christmas Day or Boxing Day? So either it opens this week or this weekend, either that or sometime after Boxing Day in the days before NYE. The ceiling going up should be one of the last things they need to do, I suppose?
