Going off the photos I'm not a fan. It looks like a high-capacity holding pen with booze and too much white.

Hopefully this layout is temporary while they renovate the lower floor, and then reveal a more traditional Virgin layout.

The article does state that the space has been designed for max bums on seats to offset the closures that will occur downstairs, so makes sense as long as it is not like that permanently.

More seats, more food, more toilets. Fair enough - it's a start. Let's give them a few months to see what happens. I hope they upgraded the wireless Internet access speeds.

It guesses that's what happening, there's no confirmation.

Though it does make sense. Seems silly to open it before it's finished.

My money is that upstairs will be the 'verandah' of the lounge, much like there is in MEL.

Given the temporary nature of the fitout, I would expect much of the furniture to be relocated to the other lounge(s) when the renovations are complete.

This would give more space and maybe the opportunity to alleviate some of the whitewashed wall "classroom" aspect.

Here now. Looks a lot more like a work in progress than the finished job. The views are great but seems a bit stuffed with furniture and the details are definitely not done. Can't wait til the whole project is finished.

Also a stack (57) on flight.org of the new pier extension with photos of gates and ramps, and some from the coughpit (think poster is a pilot)

It is nice and bright compared to downstairs. Hard to find from premium entry though
