Labor spokesperson blaming election loss on pubs and clubs big spending on election and insinuating employees of Pubs and clubs were coerced to support Libs.

Vanessa died? Whois Vanessa?
Gambling means some people lose houses.....
But the vast majority in Tassie are addicted to other things like horse racing or tiddly-winks, nudge nudge which perhaps means losing your dignity...

clearly, the people of Tasmania have spoken differently this time than last federal election.

Antony Green said before "popping the champagne corks" its likely Liberals win

Please explain?

clearly, the people of Tasmania have spoken differently this time than last federal election.

Very much so, although they are speaking much the same as the state election 4 years ago.

Could be Hare-Clarke, but we've always had that. Fact is, I think we're finally seeing some economic sunshine down here and the electorate is not in the mood for change.

The point was everyone has something in which they indulge....

IMHO The poor blow a lot of cash (as a% of income) and the wealthy waste cash on poker machines. Every dollar spent is a dollar lost. At least spending it on something else, you receive something for your spend.

Ex Green Tas leader McKim (who went to Senate and JUST got in) conceding that they have lost 1 of their 3 members. This is great news.

Now suggesting dark evil forces at work. Which is exactly what the last Green leader said after the last election.

Agree. But the Labor policy was flawed in that they didn't address the issue of substitution. Pokies addicts could still go to the Casinos in the south and north or go on-line - and on-line is uncontrolled, and worse. And those working in the pokies venues, including restaurants etc out of a job.

And Tas horse racing industry, and David Walshe, gambling multi millionaire, founder of MONA, were backing Labor! Figure that one out.

Then why is the same side of politics opposing welfare being paid into a debit card which can only be spent on certain products?

.....

Probably horse racing industry wanted the pokie gambling money to go to them?

Bingo! If you'll pardon the pun. Also, David Walsh is after his own Casino licence, so anything that weakens Federal Hotels, current pokies licence holder is commercially good for him. (They will lose their exclusive licence -given by the Labor party, years ago, under the Libs). Walsh has done wonders for Tasmania, mostly using his own money, but that money was garnered from gambling.

If Green's prediction sticks, its only the second time ever that Libs have formed majority government in Tas.

Anthony Green just called it Majority for libs. Opp leader White about to concede.
I am always impressed by how politicians can spin a story.
- Labor didn’t win but they didn’t lose.

Jacqui not running because she wants to go back to Fed Senate?

....

If Lib won 12, Lab 12 Grn1 and Lab says they won’t form minority govt, will Lib go back into Parliamemt and test their numbers on the floor?

Lab will always coalition with Grn despite what they say.

Is Wrest Point still a big drawcard and a nice place to stay?

Probably a drawcard - its a nice venue with nice facilities, including conferences. It needs a reno accommodation-wise. With Libs win, tey will probably go ahead with that.

Abetz just nicely skewered McKim over 'corporate donations' - reminding us that the Greens got then the largest ever donation from a Sydney millionaire election before last. Well over a $mill in one hit.

Jacqui not running because she wants to go back to Fed Senate?

She was always Senate. Got in on prefs and made a fool of herself. Got dis-elected after being found a dual citizen. Her #2 got in - she was expecting him to then step aside for her. He didn't, and she cracked a massive cough. A joy to see.

She formed a party here in Tas: Jacqui Lambe Network to 'fly' on her name. She wasn't standing.

Absolutely crashed and burned.

Graham Woods: Wotif (sold it). He's a greenie businessman and gave that massive donation, which wasn't disclosed at the time if I recall correctly.

Yet the greens keep banging on about the donations the Libs get.

Oh, there was also the leadership challenge and party ballot some years ago that the Greens sort of forgot to tell anyone about. Full disclosure.
