I have received confirmation today that possibly the 747 might be scheduled back on. Thai head office are contemplating as they must of received numerous complaints. I suggest that if you have a first class booking hang onto it and reach out to Thai asap...

Thanks. But what a shambles...

Thanks. But what a shambles...

Indeed .....it is absolutely woeful...Thai Guest relations were apologetic as they too not sure why the back and forth..This came about after I questioned them on compensation.

The response I got when asking about whether I could still access the F lounge connecting onto a downgraded flight:

Thank you for contacting Thai Airways International.
We are really sorry for changing class caused by aircraft change.

Regarding your request for accessing to First Class Lounge during transit in
BKK,
we can't confirm you but send a message to our airport staff in BKK to
respond your request as much as possible.

If you don't have any pts in Royal Orchid then you can't see Award Chart is that correct? If so how many pts reqd F SYD-Europe pls?

This is the response I got relating to lounge access.

Unfortunately the access to first classcheck in, buggy service and lounge access is related to the class of travelthat you are booked to travel in, therefore business class check in and loungeservice only can be confirmed however you can speak to the check in staff onthe day of travel at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport and ask if you can use thefirst class lounge prior to flight departure.
That was 2 weeks ago and today they mentioned via phone call if flying with a Class O ticket and you are downgraded need to show your ticket to Lounge staff and possibly will accomodate.

Got to love Thai... Making you work hard as always.

Thanks ted - that's upgrades but I was after full redemption rates - I thought I read somewhere that they like went through the roof recently?

They back-tracked on this too I believe, again due to feedback. At least they listen!

Currently in BKk awaiting our A380 chariot to Fra. Ex Sydney today, only 4 out of the 10 F seats were occupied, 3 of whom were us, traveling on points...FWIW, according to the FA, most F pax these days are pax travelling on points...and TG are not making money from their F seats.

Don't need to be FA to figure it out ;)
Just returned from a few TG F flights and the cabin was barely half full every time, while J was almost 100% full (at least downstairs, I didn't check the upper level).

is this what "reaching out" means? I do so detest use of these two words "reaching out" when, " ask" or "contact" is meant.

They make money, they just don't make as much as they want/need ;)

I've decided to cancel my Nov14 HKG-BKK-SYD flights and will rebook for late Jul15, hopefully the 747 returns to Sydney for the European summer.

First class syd-bkk-syd as of yesterday is back on. Thai were correct when they called to inform me that Bangkok is reconsidering to re introduce the 747 out of syd and have asked me to give them 2 weeks before any claim. I can't believe that it has come alot quicker than expected.

I checked on thaiair.com and first class is being sold again this dec & I also had a look at checkmytrip and could see 747 replaced the 77w however my seating arrangement is still in business. Awaiting to see what will happen as 2 of my tix are booked in first class O & have 2 in business.

The words i detest are 'not that i know of' in answer to a question.

Has been confirmed on airline route...Fantastic outcome. Now I need to secure my fisct class seats. The e-tix is ticketed as a firstclass ticket but my seat assignment is still in under business. What if the 1st cabin is somehow full? thoughts?
