Alan Jones (radio) said he taught the Prince when he was an English teacher at the Kings School. Remarked that he taught the Prince nothing because he was unteachable....

I guess Jones wont be going to Thailand anytime soon

Everything seems normal. TV working all channels. 99% of people in black. Massive security presence because of bomb treats + 2nd Asia Cooperation Dialogue. There is a policeman sitting 24hrs/day not 2m from my hotel room door plus countless outside. I feel very safe!!!

Assuming QE 2 survives the next 6 years, we will at least not have to hear how "our queen"
Is only the second longest reigning monarch. I must have heard that a hundred times on my last trip to Thailand. Love for your monarch is one thing. But a pi**ing competition is something else.

One of my patients taught the Prince to fly.He said he picked things up quickly.

We've stayed in a resort when the prince was in residence - unbeliveable thing to witness! Imagine countless rows of generals and admirals walking on their knees...

We're going to BKK in January, things should be back to normal by then.

Really? Is that really how he gets about - in a midriff top like a 15 y.o. girl? Poor Thailand, no wonder they are crying.

Everything is fortunately as normal. Shops and restaurants are open and my short trip has been unaffected by the mourning period. I'm asleep by 9 so can't comment about how the nightlife is impacted.

Unfortunately not my experience in Bangkok lat night. Road closures/diversions (I thought I had got on the wrong bus!), shopping malls closing early, no cable/satellite TV in hotel, etc, etc. A fairly sombre situation. Just glad I wasn't planning to have a good time...

Most bars are open in Pattaya but no music. Not that busy though.

Strange about cable/satelite TV in hotel. Was it a local, independent hotel?

My son is going for the soccer and naturally he is concerned about the rules on what to wear and zero celebrating at the game.

I have been following a few sites, as we will be in Bangkok early December. For tourists to show respect during the mourning period wearing a black ribbon pinned to your shirt is a good idea. Do not wear anything red.
